I wanted to re-iterate the "when the chargers work" part. When they don't then it SUCKS.

If Ford/EA can get it down so it can do 10-90% in 40 mins on an ER pack then road trips will be fantastic in the car. I'm in 100% agreement though. Driving 4 hours+ before sucked, now I don't mind it at all...though I still fly most places haha.
Fortunately, I haven't had any charging issues in months. When I first got my FE, I had about a 50% success rate. I'd say i'm at about 95% success rate now. I haven't even tried to DCFC the GT yet though.

My issues were all related to EA not working bringing my GT back from CT to MO. One site all chargers wouldn't pass 34kW.

That 34kw charging is the last issue I've been dealing with. From my experience its ABB chargers that have that issue. I have seen the same 34kw charging on ABB chargers from other networks as well. I've only had one time where I wasn't able to get it to speed up by moving around to different stations though. Seems like its less likely to happen on a 150kw station, and more likely on the 350kw ABB.

These were all 2018 model Signet chargers I had problems with. There were some nice new Signet chargers at one location that worked amazingly. The ABB chargers seemed to work fine.

I had so many issues with those 2018 Signet chargers. They would be stuck on "please unplug", completely dead, or charged really slow (34kW generally). I had to use multiple chargers to find one that worked at multiple locations.

Called EA several times had them reset chargers and sometimes that fixed one sometimes it did the same thing.

As far as I can tell the 350kW chargers have two actual "chargers" that combine power for the higher current output. More to go wrong.

I really like the charge point shared chargers that can combine power if only one is in use (they all just work fine!)...but even then max output to an MME is like 80kW so just not fast enough.

Since you bought your GTPE and the initial road trip home, have you driven it on any other long trips?

As @agoldman noticed, the GT/GTPEs seem to be consistently falling short on range vs. 4X but it's not clear if that's because the GT is too fun to not hammer it.

I'll be able to speak to this next week. I have two 140 mile trips this weekend. Going to assess based on first trip if I can do second without recharge. Will keep my foot out of it. It's all highway driving so I'm not so optimistic.

My lifetime on the FE is about 3.7. Mostly highway avg 67 mph, and a lot of stop and go in traffic, with some occasional bursts, just because. Of course that is mostly warm weather since I've only had a half a winter on that life reading. The next several months will be tough for all cold weather ME's for range, and will probably have top wait till Spring to get a better average reading.

It's so...sooooo hard. And I've been driving relatively fast cars for a while now...nothing has been so tempting because it's just so god damned smooth and effortless it is...and I don't feel guilty about it either.
The stealth factor definitely takes away the shame/guilt.

In my v8 SS, I couldn’t give it half throttle without everyone in the vicinity turning their heads. And that was with stock exhaust.

Haha, that’s because the Aussies know how to properly tune their factory mufflers. ?

Thanks for all the great information in this post and others! Do you have the latest software giving the car a 91kWh battery, or still the standard 88kWh?

Very welcome! I have the software provided with the car for my September build with no dealer or OTA updates yet and the 88kWh battery pack

how does one even know if they've been bumped to 91kWh?
