He flipped us off!

It's a beautiful day here in Southern Oregon. My wife and I were returning home from grocery shopping, driving in a School Zone packed with elementary school kids. We were driving under 20mph in our '24 MME GTPE (hard to do) when a 30ish male on a bike, riding in a bike lane on our passenger side, started flipping us off. His angry, vigorous gesturing started more than a block away, and the closer he got to us, the angrier he seemed, and the more pronounced was his arm and middle finger.

Our Star White MME GT, has no Ford badging, just the Pony on the front and GT on the back.

We are sure that he mistook us for a Tesla. Just to be clear, we don't own a Tesla and never would!

We now more fully understand how nervous Tesla owners must feel driving their cars, as this episode made us feel nervous driving our EV. We now wish we had a large Ford badge on the front or our wonderful car! We even talked about flying a large Ford Flag out of the window. HaHa!

I started feeling that way when GM went to the mid-size chassis on the #NoTaBlAzEr because it was not full-sized and didn’t have a removable roof. A real Blazer is 4WD, has a removable roof, is full-sized, and has a manual tranny, ??

Or the rabid EV hater... Who knows what was going through the guy's mind. Going that slow, I guess it wouldn't have been a big deal to ask what his issue was. But usually people acting like that have other things going on or even mental illness, so probably best to carry on and not engage.

As a cyclist I've definitely gone off on someone who didn't know they may have come to close for comfort.

These things are so quiet I actually got freaked by a Mach-e passing me at a light once.
I was conflicted in my allegiances.

As a bicyclist and motorcyclist myself, I'm usually wiling to shoulder the blame for doing something I was unaware of to agitate a bicyclist.

I've only ever been flipped off by a dude in a diesel truck who couldn't coal roll me b/c he had no acceleration, a couple of people in a Mercedes on a Texas freeway, and several "it's not a Mustang" fools.

You can't control other people's ignorance or idiocy. And there is a lot of it out there these days. And to be clear, there is no idiocy involved in having disdain or anger towards Elon Musk who is essentially a petulant child with way too many resources. But assuming all BEVs are Teslas, when they clearly sport a different badge, is ignorant.

I assume they were not OEM replacements? I had my windshield replaced twice on my '21 during the 3 years I had it and both had the Ford oval. I always request OEM windshields for all my vehicles when they need replacing.

I thanked him while hethen said Elon Musk sucks. I thanked him again and reminded him that this was a ford. Not a tesla. He drove away. No response at all ! Lol

While not all cyclists are jerks, they do have a huge amount of them in their numbers. They don't want to share the road. I appreciate the ones who actually don't treat everyone else as an NPC.

I was meeting someone for coffee yesterday and told her I was going to park on a Supercharger and walk over to the shop, but she wanted to pick me up at the charger. I get in her car and she says, "That's a cute Tesla!"
