So, I went to the dealership to get my car unstuck (from Powerup 3.6.1 since Nov 2022) and get the new UI. After opening up a case with the OTA group, which BTW, turned out to be a great help, my dealer successfully performed all updates on my car and reported that I am no longer stuck from getting future OTA updates. I confirmed with "Mach-Lee" - Thanks Lee - that the dealer performed all available updates to my vehicle.

However, the frunk button does appear in either Sync or Fordpass. I tested entering my unlock code on the door pillar and then pressing the 7-8 key, and to my suprise, the frunck unlached.

My question is this. Since this function was apparently added by the dealer updates, why doesn't the frunk button show up on Sync and/or Fordpass. Since no further updates are pending, I would have assumed that my car would be in the same state as those that added the frunk button from FDRS. In which case, I assume they have the frunk buttons on the UI and the app. Is that right? What am I missing? Is it because I have a job 1 and need to keep waiting for the frunk button OTA? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Pretty sure a FORScan As Built mod. needs to be done after the BCM/GFM updates and I do not think dealership service do that typically. And sorry, the FP button is still not available in Job 1 cars.

They forgot to run the routine in FDRS that adds the frunk button to the Sync screen. You can add it yourself with FORScan if you're feeling adventurous. As for the button in FordPass, you're exactly where all Job 1 owners are (no button).

Job 1 cars seem to have gotten the shaft with software including the Frunk button and BlueCruise taking forever to come out. At least we still have the foot activated tailgate ?‍♂

Is it possible you can now update your FordPass app, or kill it, clear cache, and re-open it?

The foot activated lift gate doesn’t function reliably though. Maybe I should complain to my dealer. Oh, wait. ??

So do all Job 1 cars release the frunk after entering the unlock code on the door pillar and then pressing the 7-8 button? I have not tested this prior to the update.

If only it were that easy. It’s a server-side issue like my missing second row of buttons was. Ford needs to fix this since they’re now allowing dealers or DIYers with FDRS to install this software. ??

No. Most do not. You have to have run the updates for the BCM and GFM using FDRS in order to enable the software that actuates the release. ??

I have it on my 22 Edge and honestly, it works pretty flawless for me even on the Mach-E. The trick is knowing exactly where to 'kick' for the sensor to activate and to do the same motion every time. My partner has difficulty with it as well, but I think it also might depend on the shoe too.

I still do not. I am on 4.2.3 and in EA and I do not have any kind of frunk release other than the lever in the car. Even the button in the frunk doesnt work.

Unless you disable it so as to not modify your garage door lol.

One day i'll remember to push that button just to join the rest of the Job1'ers in full purgatory.

I used to be okay with no Frunk but now its really annoying me. Seems like @Ford Motor Company is pushing out updates to bring all cars in parity with regards to otas. EXCEPT, job 1 cars cant have frunk ota. Thats the price we pay for being their beta testers. I remember when I first got my car there were so many issues and slowly over time they have all been mostly resolved. Except, no frunk :( really disappointing
