How long do you plan to keep your Mach E?

Probably like all the cars before it. If it treats me well, I usually keep it until payoff and then start shopping for the replacement. If it becomes a turd, it will be a lot sooner

Same here. I like the mme and generally do not car hop very often unless it's a terrible car. I am tempted to replace sooner though if battery tech improves significantly.

To be fair I do not replace phones all that often either. I went from pixel 2xl to a 6.

I'll probably dump this car and Ford as a brand if they don't lift the 5 second full power limit on my GT to something more reasonable within the 2022 calendar year. If they fix that issue then I'll probably hold on to the car until the same amount of battery space can offer at least 30% more range.

I wonder if there will be (or even CAN be) an aftermarket fix to disable the 5 second full power limit. Like the auto stop feature on gas cars (at stop lights, etc.) can be turned off in various ways . . . you can't ask a dealer to do it but there are DIY solutions.

Same as Stormtrooper, probably 4 maybe 5 years, depending on wear and tear on brakes, tires, paint and battery.

my last car, a Q5, I’ve had for eleven years. Never had a reason to sell it. Such a great car. The previous to that was a first year Porsche Cayenne that I loved, but upkeep was expensive, tires lasted only one year, and bad gas mileage made me sell it when the warranty was over.

We had a Cayman too. It was too small so we sold it in two years. Fun, but not as exciting as the Mach E.

Do you plan to keep your Mach E forever? Or, is it something that you plan to have for 2-3 years until there are more proven electric options (eg Fisker, Rivian, Lucid actually deliver cars)?

Until my Rivian R1S is delivered hopefully.

I plan on keeping mine for three to four years.

Then i plan on either going back to Alfa Romeo, as their Giulia EV is set to be released in 2024 (But knowing Alfa it probably wont) or getting a Rivian, IF they are sold in Europe by then.

When I don't enjoy it anymore or find something else I enjoy more. There are some things that annoy me now that if can't be solved eventually I'll jump on something else when it turns up (e.g noise from display). Right now there are no EVs that can compete with the charm of the Mach E for me, and I haven't seen any new EV coming that is interesting to me.

Hopefully it will be good enough to keep for "forever", but I do think there will be cars that are easily trade ups in a few years.

We really like the MME but I think I'll likely sell it this year. I would like to replace it & my autocross IS300 with a single EV that isn't a Model 3 and the MME, at least in non-GT form, isn't even close to doing that. The Hyundai/Kia has my attention as does the Polestar 2 and BMW i40 (stupid looking "grills" and all). All while waiting on my R1T or Evalanche.

I have the extended warranty (72mo/75,000mi) so I'm set for a while. I also want to see what battery replacement options will be available and what financial sense that would make.

Hard to see if the first year model will be desirable or an albatross in the future.

Don’t plan on getting rid of ours unless it becomes to expensive to repair. It scratches the itch that my ecoboost coupe scratched and is much more practical. We will likely always have two cars, so eventually we will replace our other 2017 EV with something nicer and let the Mach e live out its life as the backup (and my daily driver).

I have the 4 year option. I have 3 years left (still no BC LOL). I was already in a pretty serious looking accident shortly after taking delivery (not my fault), but they were able to just put new doors on and call it good. That tanked any value the "First Edition" gave me, however. No keeping that off the CarFax.

I love the car, I really do. But there will be so many more available options in a few years that will be leaps and bounds ahead of this. The slow infotainment for one is a huge turn off... there will probably serious Level 3+ autonomous driving available in a few years, even better range and faster charging (think solid state batteries). Who knows, maybe Ford will have another MME by then that meets the 2024-2025 criteria.

The word "OTA" keeps getting tossed around, but the reality is that Ford didn't put a powerful enough computer system/SoC in the MME to accept updates that will make it "on par" with vehicles a few years into the future. Think of having an iPhone 5, but Apple still decided to push iOS 15 to it. It would be an absolutely terrible/unusable experience. Just using the display will always have that 2012 sluggish tablet experience, when they had all the opportunities in the world to make it as snappy as a 120hz iPad Pro. Why can Rivian or Lucid (newcomers to the auto-world) accomplish this, but Ford can't? Food for thought.

I won't keep it, but I'll definitely enjoy my remaining time with it, including all the looks/head-turns I get.

I most likely will get a notice of when it will be arriving and I will assess the used car market at that time. If the $7,500 Federal tax rebate holds (along with a $2,500) rebate from my electrical company, I stand to gain $10,000 before I drive it off the lot. If the tax credits still exist, I will advertise the MME for at least MSRP before I actually physically have it. Once again, it could possibly be the same day I take delivery and I have a buyer.

I have already ordered a 2022 Prius that will come in shortly before the Mustang is planned to arrive.

I am going to sell one or get the deposit back on the other . I am hedging my bets that the MME will be worth MSRP on the day I purchase it. I will title and register the MME for around $3,000 here in Nebraska and if I sell it at MSRP, I will apply the $7,000 to the purchase of the Prius and drive away with a smile. ?

I could actually take at least $5,000 under MSRP and still be ahead.

In either event, I am going to capture the tax credit and apply it to lowering the initial price on my new car purchase no matter what car I end up with. WIN-WIN

I never thought this day would ever happen, but these are crazy times that we live in. I am not brand loyal and I think the electric vehicle will improve vastly in the next 4 years. When that day comes, I will then trade my 22 Prius off for an electric car. I am going to guess at that time, competition will be more fierce and the selection will be vast for an EV at that time.

But who knows, maybe I will keep the MME. It all depends on how many Benjamins will be talking the day of purchase. I am going to keep this fluid.

I own a Driving School and I usually purchase at least 2 cars per year. I have never been in this position before and most likely will never see this again in my lifetime. One of these cars will be used as one of 5 that I use for my company currently.

When opportunity knocks, I usually answer the door.

3 years Options plan so I’ll evaluate then. If I keep it after that, I’ll likely hold onto it for 10 years if possible.

Jim Farley has spoke of their vision of electric vehicles being modular and upgradable. I don’t believe the existing Mach-E foundation will work with this idea. It’s possible we are offered some sort of upgrade options in the future. CPU upgrades and larger battery packs specifically, However, considering how poorly OTA updates have been, I will not hold my breath.

For our Family, we keep cars for a while. Both for financial reasons and environmental reasons. For example our 2016 C-Max Energi replaced a 2001 Oldsmobile. Most likely we will have this Mach-E for 6-8 years.
