Hmmm. Having problems with economics, english and technology all in one post, are we? That's OK, those are hard. Let me help.
When somebody gives something to someone else in exchange for money, that means they are "selling" it. Hard, I know. So "sell" is just a dandy word to use in this context.
A project is "economically viable" if there is net benefit from the project once all economic, social and environmental costs and benefits are factored in. If the $35K wasn't "economically viable", Tesla wouldn't be selling it. Is it the most profitable model? Of course not.
OK, here's the really hard part: if you can build a battery with 54% greater range for 56% less money, EV's will get cheaper and a $25K economy version is clearly possible.
I get that you can't grasp the technology behind the new battery, most people can't. It's not just one improvement. It's the totality of the redesign of manufacturing, materials and structure that made yesterday's presentation the harbinger of a truly profound step on the road to sustainable energy.
