I don't use the walk away lock function because I'm always around my car at home since it is parked in the garage. I just tell Siri to lock the car and it's done. No need to get my phone out since my watch is listening. I'm not interested in standing at the door pushing a lock button that inconsistency works or bringing up the key pad to push 7/8-9/0.

Took me six months to notice this: above the unlock button on the front doors is a lock symbol molded into the pillar plastic. Am I the only one that did not realize it is functional?! Car locks automatically on walk-away, so not sure who needs this.
Me. I turned off the lock on walk away after the first time I washed my car. The constant locking and unlocking I had to do drove me nuts. I just lock the car with this button (which does not always work) or the two bottom numbers on the pillar when I walk get out and am leaving the car parked.

I had no idea there was such angst over the walk away lock feature. I use mine exclusively - with PAAK, no less. It works flawlessly for me. I thought it malfunctioned once but it was really the fob left in the car in my wife’s bag.

I leave the phone inside when washing the car. Was that TIC?

I believe you can actually hit the lock button on inside of the door, open door, close door and it'll be locked. Apparently this is a thing with cars that I didn't know about until I read it here. If you lock it while inside of it and get out, it'll lock when you close the door!

That happens to me too. When was your car built? I’ve been told the CSP that’s out for older builds (pre July) fixes that issue. Still waiting on my update to confirm.
According to the Door Sticker mine was built 7/21 and it sat for 3 months, was shipped in October, delivery to my dealer in November. I've asked about the updates that are now out for the Job 1 vehicles and mine isn't eligible yet. Dealer claims I should have all of the latest updates which I clearly don't. My Charging curve is still the old "Fall of a cliff" at 80% DC Fast Charging.

Yeah I think they are throwing the early builds a bone by giving them the newer features first before all the blue cruisers ?

The lock button is very inconsintent for me. I even asked my sales rep at the dealership and like with most of the stuff related to the Mach-E, he didn't have a clue. Funny thing is the one in the back passenger doors seem to be more realiable. But I've tried tapping it once and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Same thing with a double tap.

So what is the proper way to use this? is it a hard press? a single tap? a doble tap?

I just hold my finger on it for a second or two.

WHICH LOCK BUTTON?

The one on the inside of the door works flawlessly when you push it once.

The one outside on the b pillar. Above the button you push to open the door.

It’s not a button so pressing just wears your finger out. Touch it and things should lock on the first or second touch IF your fob or PAAK us close.

Or just use the button on the interior door panel. 100% success for me so far, and it’s the procedure I have used with every car that has power door locks since the ‘60s. ??

I've had to carry the FOB along with my phone. The last update killed my PAAK sensitivity. I walk away, away, away, halfway across a store parking lot and finally just pull out the phone and press the lock to lock it.

What was the last update you ask? CSP 21B36

"We've fine-tuned your Phone As A Key software to help improve reliability and reduce potential Bluetooth disconnection..."

Yeah, thanks Ford, walk away really doesn't work anymore. What is working is ~2 minutes after no 'activity' it finally beeps.

I know because I parked in the back of the parking lot, walked some 40 cars to the sidewalk and waited. (Hiding behind a pillar so it would block the phone/FOB)

~2 min later, she beeped.

Used to be I could walk ~20-30 feet and Beep!

Now I don't trust it again. Back to pushing the FOB twice or the pillar door lock icon, or if alone, hit the lock button on the way out.

/Thanks Ford...
