If anyone is interested, I've got a brand new Grizzl-E Smart Classic I'll sell for $400 plus shipping. They replaced a defective one under warranty but I retired last month and took the JuiceBox I had installed at my office. I liked the Grizzl-E, it's really well made. They aren't pictured but includes the wall plate and cord holder/holster.

Here's the old one mounted in my garage.

How much would it cost with shipping to Lake Wales, FL? Does it have a 3 year Warranty?

Now that my Ford Mobile Charger went wonky, I too am looking to purchase EVSE and have been going through many of the recommendations on this forum as well as videos on the topic. I hadn’t felt the need to do this before so was starting off with zero knowledge or experience. With so many posts now, my head is swimming! I am leaning towards the Grizzle-E as well. I think it will fit my needs. Also it is not as expensive as my second choice- ChargePoint Home Flex. Is the only difference between the editions really just the look of the enclosure? Having to make that decision is almost as agonizing for me as choosing the color of my Mach E itself! Also if I order direct from Grizzle-E, is there a fee for shipping? Anyone know of any current coupon codes? ?

Want want want!

I'll be using a Grizzle-E 40 amp dumb charger too. That meter is really cool! Where can I get one of those???

I have a similar meter for 120 volt appliances from Harbor Freight that's kind of fun to use. I plugged the 1949 Frigidaire in my garage into it and found out the sales literature from '49 is correct: the thing uses about 120 watts when the compressor is running, but of course that jumps to 160 when you open the door to grab a beer and the light bulb goes on.

Hi,
Here is what I ordered on Amazon Canada...I am sure available on amazon.com
AC 100A Meter Voltage Amperage Power Energy Multimeter with Split Core Current Transformer CT AC 100A Meter.
I got the idea from watching this youtube video.

I bought a square electrical box and cut the hole in the plate with a Dremel metal cutting disk.

Good luck.

Here's mine. Yes, it may be the heaviest cable I've seen on a home charger.
Just out of curiosity, What is the AWG size of the charge cord on the Grizzle-E EVSE unit?

I have no idea what the wire gauge is inside the cable. The cable itself is a fairly weighty and has a 0.8" diameter. I don't see a wire size listed on the website specs.

Here's another option you might want to consider if you have (or may acquire) a Tesla. You can charge your MME with a Level 2 Tesla Wall Charger.

My 2022 MME Premium shares the Tesla Wall Charger with my Model 3. The Tesla Tap Mini adapter works very well. It's not cheap but is very well engineered and saves me the cost of installing a dedicated Level 2 charger for the MME. I had to buy the 60 amp Tesla Tap adapter because I didn't want to run 40 amps continuous through their 40 amp model.

Besides, I can't use two Level 2 chargers simultaneously anyway. My garage was built in the 1980s and is limited to 50 amps total draw. So I had to set my Tesla Wall Charger on 40 amps maximum to comply with code, even though my Tesla is capable of charging at 48 amps.

When I installed my rooftop solar system on the garage, I wired the Tesla Wall Charger at the same time using 6/2 Romex. The entire cost was covered by a state rebate for EV charging equipment. I also have two Tesla Powerwall batteries that run the house during peak and mid-peak hours, allowing me to draw power from the grid only during off-peak hours. Both the Tesla and the MME are set to charge automatically after midnight when rates are lowest.

And I agree that the FordPass app is inferior, especially compared to the Tesla app, which gives far more information about charging.

$25 will get it to you by UPS so $425 total. It does have the 3 year warranty, I purchased the original charger in May of last year so they'd probably say there's about 2 years remaining.

Sounds like a good deal but I am now leaning towards getting the “ dumb “ Grizzl-E. My other option is getting Ford to replace my flaky mobile charger under warranty!

I went with the ChargePoint Home Flex only because it's a qualified smart charger recogzied by my power company. They partner with ChargePoint and offer an off-peak EV time-of-use rate. This is the sole reason for a "smart charger" for me, otherwise I would have just stuck with the Ford mobile charge. Although, the faster charging is nice (37 mi added/hr vs 20 mi). Also, as another post read, the cable is very flexible and easy to manage.

I'd check with your power company to see if they offer any benefits of having a connected charger.

Wrong, Ford Pass only gives you %Charge added not kwh. Yes you can convert if you want. Juice Box 40 gives me kwh added and date. It gives you session totals and cumulative totals. I like to separate my EV usage from my household usage. Some EVSE units allow you to adjust the charge rate from the app, others you have to open to set dip switches, and some are not adjustable.
You sure about that? My Ford Pass always shows kWHs added but it is always 5-10 less than what is reported from my ChargePoint app so not sure which one to trust.

Maybe you are thinking about current kw charging rate which I can only view in ChargePoint. This is a metric I do not see in my Ford Pass app.

It might reflect the difference between power delivered by the EVSE and power accepted by the battery pack. There's typically a charging loss of 5-10% going through the charging cable and the onboard AC-DC converter.

Could you plug the car directly into the dryer outlet?
Most dryer outlets are on a 30amp breaker with max continuous of 24amps. So the Ford Mobile charger CANNOT be plugged straight in. Many other manufacturers allow for a max amperage setting.

if you need more charge capability you just need a different EVSE that can be set to a 24amp setting.
Or you can use the range plug if they have one. That is usually a 14-50

Yea , thanks the rental probably doesn't have that. Ill plan on slow charge. I think there is an RV park not to far. But will be more fishing than driving...just don't want to leave her home for the month...
