How do I pair with OBD? How do I tell that it’s paired?
The steps to set it up are in the video in the first post.

The Icon he pointed to doesn’t exist on IOS.

Help - Still can’t connect VeePeak to ABRP.

Click the ABRP icon at the top left corner and add a car. You have to tell it what car you have before the options show up.

Does ABRP use the live data (SoC, battery temperature, consumption) to recalculate the charging stops on the fly?
The app has an option to use the live data when it calculates the route, but in my case it resulted in wrong routing. The app read a very low consumption (the car was sitting on a charger) and it calculated that for a 210 mile trip uphill on a mountain I would only use 55% of the battery. I had to disable the use of live data to get a reasonable route.

As you drive, it will update. When you have Live data on, It uses only your data. So if you haven't driven with it, it won't be very accurate.

On the live data screen, you can go to Settings, and then choose reset consumption. And that can start you over on its calculation as well incase it had some bad data in it.

How did you get the Viecar 4 to work? I have one of those and have never been able to get it to work at all on my Mach E. All I get is a red light on the Viecar and a not connected message on its app.

Update: Just tried the Viecar again. Despite it not working with their own AutoDoctor software, I just got it to connect to Car Scanner. I have a red and a flashing blue LED. Question remains: how do you connect it to ABRP?
Update: Having watched the little video I successfully connected ABRP to the Viecar OBDII reader.
Steps:
  1. Plugged in Viecar with Mach E turned off
  2. Started Mach E
  3. Opened ABRP and connected to OBD device per video
  4. Drove somewhere and had it navigate me home
The good news is ABRP had realtime SOC data -- not sure what else.
The bad news is ABRP is a horrible, although comedic, navigation software.
It should be fine for an alternative route planner (with chargers) to the Ford app, which is what I was after.

Fortunately, I didn't have any of the issues I had when I connected Car Scanner to the Viecar and had a Christmas Tree of warning lights and messages!

What issues did you have that makes it horrible? I've been using the app all year for all my road trips, and its been great. And since enabling the live data, The routing calculations have been almost perfect.

It pronounced Appleby Dr. as Appleby Doctor
Most roads it didn't even say the name for the turn
Instructions were getting cut off constantly
It directed me home by a very indirect and bizarre route. - over 1/2 mile out of the way on a 4 mile route.

Gotcha, I think that is down to the mapping backend they are using, compared to Google maps or something more popular we're used to.

They could use Google maps as the backend but it would cost them so much they wouldn't be able to keep offering it for free.

There is also the slider that gives you the option to customize how often you go to a charger. This actually does alter the route quite a bit. The farther left on the slider, the more likely it will keep you off of roads that would offer less efficiency.

I guess I naturally use Google maps for directions around the city. And then ABRP for any long trips where charging is involved. So I haven't seen too many routing issues.

I‘ve had the live data hooked up for a few trips now. In the DC area we’ve actually had some warm (60°) days so that is a factor, but ABRP is giving this MME a calibration of 3.65 m/kWh based on my driving. Anyone else want to share?

This is what I have since enabling it.

This is on my GT. And lots of 80mph driving.

My current reference consumption is 3.29 mi/kWh with about a ~70% confidence level at various speeds. I have probably only driven 200 miles since using the ODB connection, most of which in 20F to 40F conditions, usually heavily loaded, some with a rear bike rack on.

I’ve driven with it from DC to SC today. I just downloaded today’s data but no efficiency numbers, just start and end SOC and distance. I’ll have to do some calculations.

It’s nice to compare against Ford nav but Ford nav seems more accurate.

I personally have tried two different OBD Dongles and they work.

VGate iCar Pro: (May require firmware update if connection fails)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

VeePeak OBDCheck BLE:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XKQQQW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

Recommended OBD adapter is the OBDLink CX. It does have some actual security to keep others from pairing to it when idle. However, This has been sold out everywhere for weeks with no sign of coming back in stock soon.
Any help on updating the Firmware for the VGate ICar Pro would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
