Thank you for your help, berating, sarcasm. I am not a troll. I just have a life and don't have time to sit and read mean comments. By the way, received confirmation the battery is standard. Working out details now on what we will do.
I’m genuinely curious - how was it confirmed that your car was built with a standard battery if the window sticker says “91 KWH USABLE EXT BATTERY”? I ask because that would be a major manufacturing error involving a very expensive component. I suppose it’s possible, but I would think there would be multiple checks during production that would flag it.

You don’t need the dealership to tell you if they sold you the wrong car. Just compare your VIN with the window sticker that says it’s an extended range battery.

Sorry, nobody is trying to be mean (well almost nobody). But we’ve owned these cars for a while now, and can tell you that 240 miles of estimated range in winter is completely normal for a car with an extended range battery.
What he says. You’ve come to what is most likely the most knowledgeable group of people about this vehicle, outside the engineers who built and designed it. Heck, even I know how to plug it in and charge it thanks to the very smart people here ? All kidding aside, when they offer help like “send us your VIN and let us research it for you”, they’re being genuinely helpful. It doesn’t cost anything to dash off a quick note with 16 or so characters.

I ordered my Premium Mach E in 2021 and received it in March, 2022. I paid the extra for the Extended Range battery. All my paperwork stated extended, but I've only been able to charge up to 240 at max. When i picked up the car I questioned why there was only 240 at 100% charge. Basically I was told it may take a few charges to reach the full 100% extended range. After 2 months, still getting low range. Asked again, and again, I was assured I had the extended battery and it was my driving not the car. I didn't understand how my driving usage prevents my battery from having a higher 100% charge range. Mind you, that they never bothered to look at the battery part.

3 weeks ago, went in again! Dealership said they will contact me the next week to have the car picked up to look at. Never got a call back. We took the car to a different dealership and found out I, in fact, Do Not have the extended Range battery and this was something done at the assembly line.

I've been paying on a car that doesn't have what I paid for. This has never happened to me before.

What are my options for retribution. I'm not sure how to go about getting this fixed or compensated. I don't trust the dealership. I'm a first time Ford purchaser.

Any advise? My husband and I are headed back to dealership yet again to get them to acknowledge the mistake.

Thank you!
All kidding aside... Here is a current screen shot of my 2021 Premium AWD with the extended range battery.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Ordered Extended Range Battery, Got the Standard PIC

Now my battery capacity is 88 kwh vs the 91 kwh battery capacity you have (Ford increased the capacity for the 2022 model). I know I have the extended range battery because I have seen more than 70 kwh go into the battery when charged from a low state of charge. If you do the math, my 100% charge would show 180 mile range even though Ford's ideal "published" range estimate is 270 miles for my car. Unfortunately there are just so many variables that affect range like outside temps, driving style, driving history (sometimes needs to be reset), etc. that will change the estimated range that you see. As time goes on you will see that the display is not always correct and you will learn to adapt.

You are still welcome to spin your wheels with your dealer, but you are going to end up with the same battery you have in your car currently. It is just up to you as to how much time you want to spend going around on the dealer misinformation merry go round.

Thank you!! This is very informative. Not going nuclear. It's not my style. We did option 1, and doing a fast charge. The range as been the same even when I took possession back in March. Yes it's a little less since it been a little colder, but I would expect that. I usually do my homework before taking action. Retribution may have been a strong word, but I'm looking at all options and angles so I don't get burned by the dealership. I just don't trust them.
You’re right not to trust the dealer. But you also shouldn’t be trusting them with the “confirmation” that you got the wrong battery. Do you charge your car at home? This has been mentioned several times, but you can easily see for yourself if you have the ER battery. Drive the car down to 10% state of charge and then plug it in and charge to 100%. If it takes more than 70kWh, it can’t be the standard range battery. Can you do that?

Ok, I’ll add a bit of excitement to the discussion. I have a 2021 Premium 4X (eAWD ER). It’s recently been charging to 90% and around 240 miles since the latest update Ford did to the GOM. Here’s what I’m at right now. Remember, 2021s only have 88 KWH usable capacity, not the 91 KWH usable capacity of later model years. We have the same batteries - Ford just hasn’t unlocked our buffer yet. That’s coming with the frunk release ?

Also, do you like your car or not? Seems like you do if you are just noticing this after almost a year. Does the illusion of less range make your car less useful to you? Point being, just enjoy your car!

Thanks. This is my first time using this group and learned a lot and for that I'm thankful. I am not comfortable sending my VIN for all to see. I will be doing a final post with update shortly.

We are looking at that as well. Dealership is working with us.
I’m afraid that that dealer as a 23 model year sitting on its lot with your name on it. They will of course be willing to take back your car for a small “adjustment” fee.

If you are not comfortable sending your VIN publicly, and I totally get that, you could DM it to one of the people who offered to research it for you.

One to check is your average mi/kWh usage and to reset your driving history. The reset will boost the GOM range. Also if you live in a hilly area that is prone to really reduce your GOM range estimate.

FWIW, there’s not really anything bad anyone can do with your VIN

You could post the VIN, but drop the last 5 digits --

And also, confirm that the VIN under the windshield matches the one on the build plate inside the drivers door. And the build plate will also have the Gross Vehicle Weight printed on it....

For example, my VIN prefix is 3FMTK3RM9MMAxxxxx ('21 premium, standard range, RWD).

There's another thread which posted a VIN decoder: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/2021-mach-e-mustang-vin-decoder.651/

I don't know why Ford chose to obfuscate everything. If you've ever been to an Electrify America, the app saves charge logs as kWh delivered (since that's how they bill), and tells you your battery start and end %.

For example, recent charges on my car:
54 kWh to go up 55% = 98 kWh battery.
31 kWh to go up 29% = 106 kWh

It's not exact, since the vehicle SOC is not precise, and the battery is warming up as it charges. Still, I'm pretty confident that my Premium 4X has the extended battery.

Another simple test is to use a DC fast charger when it’s about 20%SOC and see if it takes 150Kw. Only ER batteries are capable of this. Just my 2 cents as that’s all I have left.
