I ordered my Premium Mach E in 2021 and received it in March, 2022. I paid the extra for the Extended Range battery. All my paperwork stated extended, but I've only been able to charge up to 240 at max. When i picked up the car I questioned why there was only 240 at 100% charge. Basically I was told it may take a few charges to reach the full 100% extended range. After 2 months, still getting low range. Asked again, and again, I was assured I had the extended battery and it was my driving not the car. I didn't understand how my driving usage prevents my battery from having a higher 100% charge range. Mind you, that they never bothered to look at the battery part.

3 weeks ago, went in again! Dealership said they will contact me the next week to have the car picked up to look at. Never got a call back. We took the car to a different dealership and found out I, in fact, Do Not have the extended Range battery and this was something done at the assembly line.

I've been paying on a car that doesn't have what I paid for. This has never happened to me before.

What are my options for retribution. I'm not sure how to go about getting this fixed or compensated. I don't trust the dealership. I'm a first time Ford purchaser.

Any advise? My husband and I are headed back to dealership yet again to get them to acknowledge the mistake.

Thank you!

I can understand OP's concern. My 22 select SR consistently showed 245-250 miles range at 100% during summer here is West TN. So far our lowest temperatures this winter have been several days at 0F about a week ago; at 100% charge, range was 209 miles. We took delivery of our 23 premium RWD ER on 12/19. Lowest temperatures since we took delivery has been 30F. Range at 100% with those temperatures on 23 premium was consistently 295 miles. I have a 160 mile round trip commute on 2 lane backroads with mostly 55 mph speed limits.

I'm not trying to get in the middle of the fray here, but decoding the VIN wouldn't do any good would it? VINs are assigned before the car hits the assembly line correct? If the car was truly mis-assembled (again, not suggesting this one was or was not), the VIN wouldn't tell you that would it? Now, someone mentioned using the VIN to cross-check some sort of parts used data, which may be another story. Carry on...

The VIN would be assigned before assembly, but should reflect the order placed by/with the dealership. (Failure point #1)
I would expect that the assembly process Ford uses would be as close to 100% as is possible. It is possible that the VIN would say ER and @DeniseW actually got a SR, but it is improbable. I don't recall big news about people ordering Mustang 5.0s and getting the econo-boxes..... And Ford's Mexico plant has been running for a few years, they've likely got the procedures down pretty well.
Which is where some of the other suggestions on checking maximum charge rate (150 kw/h [ER] vs 115 kw/h [SR]) might help get some insight into what is actually inside the pack without disassembling it. Assuming you've found a DCFC that can hit 150....

I don't disagree. My only point was that if a car were truly misassembled, the VIN would not necessarily reflect that, unless someone had access to information beyond a window sticker, VIN decoder, etc.

Thanks. This is my first time using this group and learned a lot and for that I'm thankful. I am not comfortable sending my VIN for all to see. I will be doing a final post with update shortly.
I would not post my VIN publicly either. However, I can vouch for many of the people here, all of who really do want to help. Some of them I would definitely trust with my VIN. Not Rick, though. Definitely not Rick. ?

I realize this is your first time in this forum, but those of us who have been here for a while have seen multiple posts almost identical to yours. Many of those people have claimed they have the wrong battery also, but it was never proven to be true.

That is the context you found yourself in, but of course you didn't know it as a new member. That is why some people are making fun at your expense. After 30 or 40 posts like yours, it becomes hard for some of us to resist making fun.

We do want to know what happens, and we don't want to drive you away. Most of us are big fans of our cars, and we like helping others learn things about theirs. So I hope you come back whenever you have other questions we can help you with. It might be good to search some of the topics first, though. Just to see if anyone else has asked a similar question. It might save a little teasing...

You could post the 8th character of the VIN. That shows what the size battery is that is registered to the car and won't reveal the rest of the VIN/
Looks like 7....update is we reset the driver history and then charged. We got 303. First time ever. So we agree, no mistake given and I do have the ER.

Hence the "show us the VIN". If the VIN shows SR, that's one problem. If the VIN shows ER, then we get into whether these are GOM issues or an actual mis-assembly.

I'm sort of intrigued - but I expect that in the end this will fall into the GOM bucket.

But it's always fun guessing.....

I really do want to thank you for all your suggestions. Some helpful and some...well not so much! ? I learned a lot and it also helped me when dealing with the dealership. It's amazing how much mis information is out there. Bottom line is I DO have the ER. We know know how to reset driving history. My 8th Character on my VIN is a 7. You all like to poke fun when you can. Enjoy your day and have a Happy and safe new year!!.

You could post the VIN, but drop the last 5 digits --

And also, confirm that the VIN under the windshield matches the one on the build plate inside the drivers door. And the build plate will also have the Gross Vehicle Weight printed on it....

For example, my VIN prefix is 3FMTK3RM9MMAxxxxx ('21 premium, standard range, RWD).

There's another thread which posted a VIN decoder: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/2021-mach-e-mustang-vin-decoder.651/
Good point. All the OP has to do is tell us the 8th character of the VIN. If it’s not an M or an S, she has the correct battery. If it IS an M or an S, she should go buy a PowerBall ticket because she has some kind of luck going on!
