BTW, you can’t precondition en route to a Tesla Supercharger at this time Charge Assist doesn’t precondition.

Right. Now the most reliable way to know if a Supercharger is available to a Ford is to use the Tesla app.
I wish they would open the stations up on the Pennsylvania and Ohio Turnpikes that are in the Travel Plazas. They are V3 sites and would make it a heck of a lot easier to road trip than having to exit to charge.

I really wish Charge Assist worked while driving. Finding a charger in the Nav works while driving, so why not in Charge Assist?

You want me to pull over and look for a charger? I don’t get it.

Charge Assist is a web app so some of the data/mapping can be updated on the backend. the downside is it doesn't integrate with the in-car systems as well.

for those intent on using a supercharger, many times other CPO sites are near a supercharger so you can set navigation to the alternate site and get preconditioning that way. a bit of extra work - easier if you have a co-pilot to help.

Do you have an adapter yet?
Yes, see post #2.

why all the bitching
Wasn't trying to bitch. Just Ford has now trained me to use the nav app to precondition before fast charging. I finally on a recent trip got used to doing it, and then, the first time after that trip i tried to do it, it doesn't work.

Although it makes things a bit complicated right now, I don't mind. This gives time for word to really get out there about the Supercharger access and how it will work (aka, you at least need an adapter).
On that note, I was at my local Ford dealer a couple of days ago to pick up my wife's Edge from routine maintenance, and the service advisor and I got to chatting about EVs. He had neither heard about Ford EVs recently acquiring Tesla Supercharger access nor about the free adapter being sent to customers. I was astonished. I guess expecting the minimum is expecting too much.

In the meantime, one could find a charger near or on the way to the Telsa chargers you want to use (if there is one) that is in Ford's Nav system and navigate to it, instead, and then make your way to the Tesla station when you're close to it.

Received my A2Z adapter today!

Trying to Navigate to a Tesla charger, but the one nearest me does not show up in the car's Navigation app or in the car's Charge Assist app. It does show up in Fordpass. how do you precondition the battery on the way to a Tesla charger if you can't navigate to it?
The adapter does not work with every Tesla Supercharger yet, only some. If its not showing up, then that particular location probably isn’t compatible with Ford or any other.

I put the onus on Ford. Given the complexity, uncertainty, and difficulty for Ford, dealerships, and customers Ford is doing a terrible job on training service and tech people. I would go so far and say Ford should be rating what level of training service and sales people have, and when they were most recently updated.

This my understanding also.

This statement goes against post #13 in this thread, which said, "BTW, you can’t precondition en route to a Tesla Supercharger at this time Charge Assist doesn’t precondition." And, I confirmed in the Tesla app that the location I was looking for was compatible with Ford. Tesla stations do not show up yet in the Ford navigation app.

I think that Annette missed the part about preconditioning on the way to Tesla stations that are compatible. As you noted, if the station is showing up in the Public Charging app or Ford Pass (just double check the Tesla app for certainty), you still aren't able to precondition on your way to the station bc it currently doesn't appear in the navigation app.

Hopefully Ford will get that fixed soon

Sometimes that trick will work but we’re currently traveling part of the Florida Gulf Coast where both Superchargers and CCS stations are needed to make the trip towing a trailer behind our Lightning

Correct. The most reliable way to know if stations are usable are the Tesla app and website.

I put the onus on Ford. Given the complexity, uncertainty, and difficulty for Ford, dealerships, and customers Ford is doing a terrible job on training service and tech people. Ford provides lots of training but it’s like leading a horse to water. Many dealerships don’t give their people time to take the training.

No, in fact I did't misunderstand anything. You can actually find the information on the FORD website, if you take a second go look. It has NOTHING to do with preconditioning. Here is the link to save you some time. https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ng/how-do-i-get-a-fast-charging-adapter-nacs/

I did not miss anything about preconditioning. You can find the answer directly on the FORD website. NOT ALL TESLA SUPERCHARGERS are open to Ford charging, plain and simple. Here is the link directly to the Ford website where you can find the correct information. https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ng/how-do-i-get-a-fast-charging-adapter-nacs/
