Btw, I think in my state (MA) this also brings the Model Y LR into range for another $3500 rebate. So if you're income is under the federal cap and you live in MA, I believe you might walk away with a Model Y LR for $42k. You'd have to have very strong convictions to pay $23k more for a comparable MME.
My coworker just bought a Model 3 10 min ago. It is around 35k now, before any state incentives. Crazy.

I'm seriously considering another Tesla. We have a model Y and MME premium ER. Model Y is preferred by everyone in the family and MME gets rarely driven now.
What do they like about it more? Just curious.

Model 3 LR is $50k now.
Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear someone who actually owns both the MME and MY.

I see lots of Sturm und Drang about Tesla knocking Ford and other EV makers in the dirt with this latest, limited time discount. Funny stuff. The other makers can discount EVs too. And guess what? They have good old ICE vehicles that are cash cows ?. F150 anyone? Silverado High Country?

Tesla had over a decade headstart as true first-mover in the EV sphere yet their current lineup is rapidly aging with only superficial updates, and, Cybertruck and Roadster might as well be names of Transformers at this point. Not to mention there are now better built, better looking, and yes better range (real range not inflated Tesla numbers) EVs by the dozens for sale and soon to be for sale. Sold by makers that don’t have a megalomaniacal Twitter shit poster alienating seemingly everyone all at once.

This is an act of desperation by a company that Elon has screwed even further with his Twitter antics. Share prices are in the toilet and many analysts that were formerly in the Tesla Bulls camp are admitting to a different reality on the horizon.

Reap the Whirlwind, Elon.

I’m confident Ford will respond to this double hit of both the IRA tax credit issue and Tesla price cuts. Ford has too much invested to just cede the market. They will drop prices sooner or later. Unfortunate for those of us who have recently purchased, but this will be positive for prices and EV adoption in general.

On Dec 29, IRS set a price ceiling at $55k. Musk responded: hold my beer.

Note: I despise the individual and am married to a never-Tesla woman too!
I'm no Musk fan either but I've always found it ironic that Teslas are more "made in the US" than the all-American "Mustang." MME always looked better and was better value. 2023 pricing and tax credits just flipped the value part on its head.

Ford as a company isn't in trouble but the MME certainly is. And the future is electric so the trouble is inevitable if they don't respond. With increased production and cancelled orders on the MME and Lightning, their EVs are going to be stockpiling with money just sitting in lots and wasted on bumping up production. The problem with that is our resale values will continue to plummet. Teslas other genius move was non-refundable deposits. That's money in the bank vs. canceled MME/Lightning orders.

I feel the worst for people who just got a MME for its value (or tax credits) and for the people that bought a Model Y in November for $20k more.

This may actually help drive MME prices down in the long run. But come on, does anyone really want a Tesla just because they're cheaper?
There's a lot of irrational partisan Tesla hate on the internet, but the vast majority of people view Tesla as desirable. Many people desire a tesla, they just couldn't afford it. Now many more will be able to buy one.

That new price is crazy. I don't like tesla design, but M3P seems good value now. 3.1 Sec acceleration, 315 Range. I probably will order an M3P and take the credit. 7.5K tax credit, 2K NJ rebate, tax free. I need to see what my MME is worth in trade now.

Yes. And? Explain in detail exactly how Ford is “in trouble.” Are they about to go bankrupt? Are losses piling up so much they're going to abandon ev’s? A lot of hyperbole over this.
Humm, a lot of minimizing important news going on. Ignoring that this is impactful to the market and to Ford and other manufacturers, who are FOR SURE analyzing what they will do about this, is silly.

Even if true, and that’s debatable, none of that shows how Ford is “in trouble.” Present tense. How is Ford in trouble at this very moment? The claim was very specific. It was not, “This is going to cause problems for Ford if it doesn’t respond.” It was not, “This could add to the growing inventory backlog.” It was “Ford is in trouble.” So how is Ford in trouble at this very moment because another car company drastically cut prices to reduce inventory it can’t otherwise sell? Be specific.
I think more than half of the posts on this thread are from people saying this is a crazy good deal, with many saying they just bought a MY on the spot. These are Ford consumers changing brand and, yes, this means TROUBLE in capitalism terms, if Ford doesn't respond. And tesla is way more profitable than Ford's EV, which means Ford just can't cut nearly as much as Tesla, even if they want.

What do they like about it more? Just curious.
Mostly the user interface. Much easier to understand and find how to change things.

For me, the ride is much better in Tesla (it's performance trim), which the MME has way more body roll in turns.

MME blue cruise is way better than Tesla FSD though. I'll be missing it if I trade in MME for another Tesla. But Tesla has much higher range and much better charging network, so for long distance in winter we still take Tesla over MME.
