The real "gotcha" is that the car is already outdated for an EV.
It charges comparatively slow and the app/software is rubbish.

My biggest issue is the ride quality. It's very bouncy and rough, completely under engineered for the weight. I've done 25k miles and it's a bone shaker on all but perfect roads.
Not my experience.

65.5k 27mths, still got my fillings so not that bumpy and I run on F38/R49psi with over half a tonne of tools.

Charges from 0 to 100% in 8hrs overnight in garage.

20 to 80% on DCFC (usually at MaccyDees or KFC) in the time it takes to drain the cabbage & grab a coffee.

The App is the App no worse than the average out there. Got used to what works and what don’t in App and how to work the car as reqd otherwise.

Ford paid Ā£3k towards it because Bojo the liar stole the grant he promised (shock!) so Ford are in credit as far as I’m concerned.

Happy bunny here ???

I think there are some really good alternatives to the MME available out there. The MME is not A bad car but there are better out there in terms of cold weather performance, charging performance, software and ride. Not many better in all those areas but a couple that are (Tesla and Hyundai I think).
If I were to have a choice tomorrow I would get a model Y. Im locked into the lease for another 2 years. Im happy enough to wait till the lease is over.

You should look at the Volvo EX30. That’s peaked my interest.

I may be getting old and think too much but can’t entertain Chinese cars for the spying risk or even Tesla’s if Musk is helping the Ruskies, don’t know what’s going on there with his satellites? has he been threatened by Putin??ā€ā™‚

Thanks all. I have a GT on loan at the moment and I’m quite impressed. Ride is hard, there is a rattle in the back somewhere which is making it feel like a worse ride. Power is epic, cornering is excellent. I love the console layout - somewhere to put everything.

I’ve not noticed the software lagging on any of the cars I have borrowed. All cars are a set of compromises but this one overall seems pretty good - I ā€˜want’ to drive it which is the benchmark. As for other options, I don’t fit in a lot of cars (fairly tall), or they are boring, or have a tiny range, or cost a fortune (iX…), or are too big, or have an awkward driving position (Volvo). EVs in general are going to change dramatically over the next few years so its a bit like buying a phone - which one is good enough for the next 2/3 years… Not 100% sure this one is enough to get me out of my ICE car right now though.

So, yesterday I'm driving along and I get warning 'Service Vehicle Soon' and the usual icons on the dash, Check the app, 2 messages: High Voltage Battery Warning - vehicle may shut down without further warning and Powertrain malfunction/reduced power. I had the HV issue fixed back in 2022 and i think (can't remember!!) that this was the same message, anyone had the HV fix fail again?

So far my (built July22) MME has behaved impeccably apart from one instance when the main screen went black on a journey and I had to reboot.- fingers crossed.

I'm fortunate in that after 37k mikes still no issue but I do remember reading a while back that some in the US have had a repeat. I guess there is a spread in the contactor performance even with the new design

DevSecOps started a good thread on the subject https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ers-biggest-fear-facts-and-info-thread.18143/

The battery and HV components have an 8 year 100,000 warranty. So just drive and enjoy.

That's good to hear for those that will have it that long... the drive and enjoy bit is the problem, waiting to see if you suddenly come to a halt, without notice on the M25 in rush hour or being on holiday in Scotland and the warning pops up in your App, that's the issue.

First time it happened, I called Ford who said that I should be able to drive with it but to take it easy. I asked them to confirm in writing that the car was safe to drive and would not just stop on the M25, they then told me not to drive it and gave me a hire car for nearly 5 weeks. I will wait to see what happens this time. Maybe I'll get the fuse changed for the washer pump at the same time as that is a task in itself...

Hi All, prospective UK owner here, looking for guidance. I'm considering a GT. Using the 48 hour test drive offer I have driven a '21 SR and a '23 AWD LR and I also had a 20m drive out in a GT. GT was much more connected with the ground and just felt better. I've read the last 30 or so pages of this thread so have some insight into the quirks, but wondered if there was anything I should be looking out for? I imagine a late '22 car would be better for the battery circuit issue - or is this not the case? I definitely value the frunk button - but it seems most cars are getting this? Any real 'gotchas'? Thanks!
I was driving a BMW xDrive30e 2020 before i got the Mach-e and even tho the interior feel was more luxurious, the suspension was not more comfortable than Pony, navigation was atrocious, mobile app was worse than Fords.
Beemer had it's own quirks as well (i guess most of vehicles do). I was considering ioniq and EV6 as other people but the more i drive the mach-e the happier i am i chose it, of course it all depends what are your priorities.
Mach-e has the ride height (SUV) both myself and my better half prioritised when buying the car, ioniq and ev6 are regular rides. I was looking into Volvo but to be honest i wasn't impressed with the infotainment system, now that thing was laggy! As someone mentioned before the only EV i would consider over pony is Tesla Y.

As a taller person i would have liked more steering wheel adjustment (depth/height), middle arm rest could be better designed with more adjustability, not a huge fan of rotary gear selector like when you have to make a tight spot manoeuvres in a hurry i find myself passing reverse into park gotta look down to set it and continue etc. So maybe paddles on the steering or a stick would be better.
Wireless charger is really bad, i only used it a few times when i had no other options, phone gets really hot and the rate of charging is slow.

Would love to see more personalization options on the SYNC, ability to use vehicle cameras to record (use as a dashcam) to USB stick.

I wouldn't worry about the battery, if you like the car just enjoy the ride.
