Unless it gets ripped off when you back out of the garage. For that reason, I hope that the car won't go if it's left open. With my Outlander, the car won't go if the charging cord is plugged in. If it's unplugged but the charging door is left open, it will warn you on the dash but still let you back out of the garage and rip it off.
I would intentionally pop it open on my friend as he was driving away.

Chevy Volt & Bolt works the same way as the Outlander.....

Never have ripped it off though!

I haven't either. But people in the Outlander PHEV forums have. Seems like it should be standard on all plug-ins to disable moving until the door is closed. Is there ever a time that anyone would want to drive away with it open? I can't think of one.

Charging cord doesn't reach and you just need to move the car maybe?

Leaf moves with charge door open but won't start when plugged in. It's handy if you didn't park in quite the right place at a DCFC station and need to adjust.

This was about as far as I could stretch the cable (doesn't look like it but those are heavy and don't like to stretch). Almost had to move it closer.. I probably would have left the door open if I moved it closer.

I thought I saw in a YouTube that the top part where the cable attaches will swing out to provide extra reach for this type of charger.

Edit: found it. At around 27:30 timestamp

It couldn’t. Maybe the charge port but Frunk is no bueno. Charge port would flop closed with wind.
Umm, I drive stuff home from Lowe's all the time sticking out of the back of my wife's durango with the hatch partially tied down. Properly secured stuff, of course.

Said frunk not trunk. Frunk flips up and covers the windshield if not latched down properly.

I know exactly where that station is in the video. It's on US 74 at Boardman, NC.

Yeah, but that’s just one more sensor on the car that could break, and here with the potential to brick your car if it malfunctions. Same with getting involved in a minor accident where the door is hit, and the sensor thinks it’s ‘open’ and you can’t move the vehicle at all.
