How is the launch going this week? Getting close to crunch time.

I Have a bad feeling about J1, too many open/pending issues.

Dang that is not good
But good to fix them now at this stage.
What are they do you know?

Too many to list out amigo, it’s a side of launch you have not seen. The smallest detail is a no go.
Nothing is allowed to leave a station unless its 100% go. It is like every job is a DELTA JOB.
A big one is the tail lamp fit

Well, I'm sure you can keep it on track of the tail lamp fit. Is it the clips?

Trying man problem has to do with the rubber gasket around the tail lamp.

September 15 suppose to be when all orders are ready right?

They have to be in the system by then for Dearborn. People down here are ready to roll, The big wigs in the vest are getting their ass chewed on the smallest thing that is not right.

If it's like that how many did you guys build yesterday?

We got 48 out in 10 hours, right around that number.

Were they demo cars or what?

PP2 builds don't know where they are going but not demo.

Well, hope all goes well this week man.

Thx people are ready to get this rolling. Just so many high ups here, it is on a whole different level of people looking over your shoulder.

One good thing to come out in all this. It would seem to me that Ford are trying their hardest to get the cars out of the factory 100% correct. Hopefully no trips to dealers after sale for rectifications. Surely that is a good thing

I see good and bad in that report.

The good: Ford wanting everything to be perfect without defects

The bad: People looking over everyone's shoulders and not letting them get problems solved - I've found your people do their best work and solve problems better when you point them out and walk away letting them fix the issue. If the "big wigs" are indeed hovering over the workers the whole time, this thing could really slow down.

Yes but it's good when the big wigs are saying "not good enough, try again".

Exactly! I’ve often traveled to factories for exactly that reason...to watch them building my designs and to coach them on what’s acceptable and what isn’t. I’ll give them leeway to figure out what process works best for them, but inspecting and discussing the results in person is incredibly useful. These Covid travel restrictions have made things much more difficult in that respect...it’s good to hear Ford putting the effort into maintaining that level of collaboration, even if it means my car gets delayed a bit.

What does he mean by orders being ready by 9/15?

That's consistent with the recent #machdrop FE campaign deadlines. Dealers are being given until 9/15 to confirm all of the new FE orders. Presumably that adds to all the existing ones, which should finalize all of the (North American) FEs. Which is presumably going to be the first production run of customer MMEs.

Although I suppose finalize isn't quite the right word, as the options can still be changed for a few weeks after that. But the actual number of them is finalized.

I am encouraged to hear all this. Seems like they have indeed understood how important the initial quality impressions will be in this ev market.

That's my takeaway. If the biggest problem is the tail light gasket then maybe we don't have to worry about panel gaps and bumpers falling off.

I wish Ford would just come forward with a timeline of when our cars are going into production

Space White looks great! Oh and the other Mustangs at this stable are okay, too.

You can (just barely) see the front of a black horse, too.

Also... These chargers sure look similar to Electrify America's. ?

I was wondering when and how the cars would be charged enough at the end of the line to make thair final trip to the dealers and this answers the questions.

This confuses me: It isn't like they are driving them from the plant to the dealer. They really only need about a 10 or 20 mile charge in them to be delivered. Then the dealer fills them up the rest of the way (of course that means your dealer will call with "Your car is here but you can't pick it up for 2 days as we have to charge it on our Level-2").
