Update on Mach-E launch progress from engineering friends in Mexico

I do have to say though, I think "Unbridled" was a silly (bordering on stupid) choice. "Untamed" as it's called in the UK is a better choice. And is a much more widely-known and understood term.

Even in the US, "unbridled" is a term many people are never even heard. And it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

I think its more common than you realize. Anyone knowing that a Mustang is a horse will know what unbridled means.

But why deviate from what people are accustomed to? Now we have to relearn what each of the new terms are. I am all for consistent improvements where there is a need. But hope designers and decision makers doesn't change something just for the sake of it. "Why reinvent the wheel? So I can put MY name on it." is a bad motto to follow. I once work with a guy who rewrote a month worth of working, tested code just so he can say he did it.

(Circle back to drive mode topic) Of the 3, I would guess that "Whisper" is the most quite and eco based on name. But honestly can't tell by the word itself on "Engage" vs "Unbridled". I have never heard of "Unbridled" before looking into the Mach-E. I keep picturing a bride running down the hill throwing a saddle off her back.

I am not disagreeing with your point.

In case anyone doesn't know, the word "unbridled" originally was from the event of riding a horse without the bridle, which meant that the rider had very little control. It was an event which could result in great excitement. Hence, the term "unbridled enthusiasm".

Ford is experiencing quality issues with the launch of the 2021 F-150 and are shipping trucks to another factory to perform rework, similar to the botched Explorer launch last year.

" In addition to thousands of early production 2021 Ford F-150 pickups being stockpiled in parking lots around Detroit Metro Airport for a quality review, a steady stream of the new vehicles is being delivered to a site near the Flat Rock Assembly Plant for installation of seat belts and to fix other issues, the Free Press has learned. Makes you wonder about early production Mach E's that appear stuck at the plant.

• We haven't seen similar articles about Mach-E's being repaired
• If its fixed before I get it what does it matter?

It's possible that many Americans have never heard of the word "unbridled", but I see it in print regularly.

These leaks appear to be coming from the UAW.

The immediate issue would be delayed delivery, and if history repeats the Explorer scenario, then not all the problems were fixed and many continued onto the buyer. It also drove Ford's warranty expenses through the roof.

Per an "unusual memo" released in September, the Flat Rock plant was on standby for a "worst case scenario" with the F-150 lauch.

Speaking of test drives, are dealerships allowed to give test drives on our Mach E’s to other people until we come pick up our cars? I know we’ve talked about FCTP vehicles being used for that, but almost all new cars have a little bit of mileage on them, and I’ve assumed this has been from test drives.

Maybe special order vehicles are different?

I have special ordered a number of cars

1995 Mercury Mystique

and none of them had more than 8 miles on the odometer when it was delivered.


On the other hand I have bought 2 other cards "off the lot" and each had been taken for test drives (me included) and the mileage was still less than 60 miles.

this was talked about on another thread. They found an issue, they fixed it in new ones coming off the line.Those are being shipped out. The ones being parked haven’t been fixed for the issue. But pumping out a new F-150 every 53 seconds, those stockpiles aren’t really an issue.
