I got an update last week, apparently I can do plug and play with Tesla. Wonderful but when I look on my car menu for chargers available for a long drive, no Tesla but on my phone app, they are everywhere. So my phone app does not line up with my car menu.
no “Public Charger” option, nothing like what Mach-Lee posted.
So, does anyone know what’s going on or what am I missing?
Cheers!

I started my car just to check for updates and there’s an update downloading do you need to leave the accessory power on or the vehicle on for it to receive download the update?

Starting the vehicle is what gives consent to the OTA trigger to proceed to the download process. If it is an update that requires the vehicle to be inhibited, it will download the update files but not install them? Which OTA is it? Or send me your VIN and I can check the progress of the update.

It’s the 4.2.3

It just said completed so I’m thinking it’s gonna let me update here in a second. I’ve had the car switched on accessory and I was getting ready just to shut it off and then that showed up so I guess it’s downloaded.

Actually, because I have automatic updates on it appears to have just updated automatically. FordPass shows the new update. I don’t really know what’s in that update. I really didn’t notice anything change, but this popped up twice while I was doing it. I think it’s got something to do with the maps, I like has nothing to do with the battery of the car because I’m at 70% on my battery

As per the github for the MME OTA history, that update allows Sync to connect to public wifis.

So you’re driving around and you stop somewhere if there’s a Wi-Fi available after you shut your car off it would connect to a public Wi-Fi and start the update. Also along with saying that when you get home you’re going to automatically kind of see Wi-Fi show up on your screen because it’s connected to your house, do you just turn the vehicle off? It will download off and you don’t have to sit in there with the accessories on?

I did a write up of what happens when an OTA trigger is created for a vehicle here. Long read, but this should answer your questions. Nothing on the link below is official from Ford. It was written by me and is based on my experience upon checking hundreds of vehicles for OTA related issues.

The public wi-fi is for when you're in the car, you can connect to a public wifi connection and use youtube on the sync screen while you're charging for example. It is not used for updates.

If you connect your car to your home wifi, it CAN use your wifi to download the updates, but mostly seems to prefer the cellular connection.

Is Youtube an app on the home screen or do you need to download it?

@Handsfree Sorry that your thread got hi-jacked. I don't own an EV, so I don't know the answer to your question as I don't have first-hand experience with your concern.

@Jerrytball If you have any questions I can be of help with, feel free to message me so we no longer derail this thread.

It should be under the entertainment section in the app drawer of the sync screen.

dragging this thread back to your topic... ?

each app will have its own setting for whether you want to show stations requiring a NACS/tesla adapter or not. charge assist has it under "Filters" and toggling it off/on does work in my experience. navigation on my car does not currently show any tesla superchargers either but i expect the "NACS/tesla adapter required" setting will show up in the filters when you are looking up stations as well. it would make sense for ford to put it in a setting that persists for all sessions/apps (maybe in the vehicle or general sections of the settings) but i don't see anything there now.

EDIT: forgot to mention that fordpass also has a "filters" setting that allows you to fine tune your search - NACS/tesla option is one of the filter settings.

this is all still being rolled out - hopefully it will be fully ready by april when the first official adapters ship.
