Well, Ford, the new "Distance To Empty" algorithm doesn't work . . .

I just got my Mach-E and I reset everything again to make sure I am not crazy. I plugged in for 300 and then I've used 90 miles but only traveled 80ish, so its kinda accurate.

At 100% charge my MME used to show about 270 mile range. A month ago it dropped to 215. On 1/21 I got update 3.6.2 "improving the accuracy of D to E". Now at 100% charge it shows around 290 miles. That's where it was Saturday morning at the start of a 199 mile trip. When I got home, it was down to 11 miles left!
Mine was very accurate before the update, now it shows over 250 miles in the cold when 170 would be much closer. Starts out at over 2 miles reduction for each mile driven then gets more accurate as the charge goes down.

I wonder if it is using the “car temperature” instead of the outside temperature when first starting a trip. I keep my car in a garage so it always starts warmer than what most of the trip will be at.

A big missing feature in Apple Maps EV routing is being able to delete suggested chargers, there's no way to do that so it just keeps rerouting you to the charger if you don't stop at it, really annoying stuff.
Yeah, I've experienced this with Apple Maps. It is very annoying indeed! It made it useless since it was telling me to drive miles out of the way to go to a charger than I didn't need to go to! ?

I agree they missed up the GOM. Early on in my Mach E exp. my wife had extreme range anxiety. To ease her concern I created a quick cheat sheet she could reference the stated miles/kilowatt on the sync display and the current battery percentage. This actually eased her concern and we were able to quit referencing it since the GOM had started to predict pretty much the correct range. On long trips we still reference this instead of the GOM to plan our DCFC stops. Now that I am fully updated thanks to Ben's FDRS my GOM consistently displays the range as 247 miles at 90% Then my range takes a nose dive as I get closer to 20%. So back to using the cheat sheet to know how far to go.

I like this idea and made one for my 2022 GT (91 kWh usable battery capacity). I decided though that I didn't need to four decimal places for the estimated miles ?

Just out of curiosity do you know the following:
  1. Your average speed?
  2. Ambient temperature?
  3. Were there any headwinds?
  4. Were you alone or did you have passengers and/or payload?
  5. Did you increase your elevation at all?
I ask those questions only because there is no possible way for the algorithm to know any of that before you started your trip. It is my understanding that the range estimate adjusts as you drive.

The car does know the battery's SOC and how many miles/kW you are averaging. You can do the rough math to get a better range estimate using that info. Best of luck.

So why can't the car do the same math?

I am surprised to see everyone posting this. We are fully up to date and our GoM is as pessimistic as ever. Showed 165mi range at 90% charge when it was extra cold the other day and usually shows a little south of 200 in the winter, which it is relatively easy to beat unless you are driving 80mph.
I would LOVE to have the old pessimistic GOM back.

It seems like Ford can't win on this. Before it was people arguing how Tesla got better range in the winter because Tesla was lying about range, so Ford changed it to kinda do the same thing as Tesla but now people are complaining about that now.
I feel SO bad for Ford........Bwahahahaha.

I thought I was the only one who didn't know what GOM stood for - - - is it Really Guess-o-meter ? Makes as much sense as anything else
