When or will GT/PE 5 Second limit be lifted by OTA

When/will the GT/PE get the power throttle improvement OTA?

WADR, there's zero basis for this take.

They said they're been testing and the car can take more. The '24 Mach-E will not have the limitation.
1 forum brownie point says the 2024s arrive with no change or modest change. The modest change could be less throttling at the 5 second mark or a longer time frame before the same throttling. But if there’s a change it won’t be radically improved.

The real clue is what the Rally has. If it comes with no wot limit, that’ll be a harbinger for the 2025 models. But I bet it has the same limits as a GT.
But I thought many got it OTA a month ago
No it hasn’t been pushed by Ford. Those with job 1s that have the feature got it through a dealer or by self help methods. What many people got a month ago was a sudden appearance of the button on FP. They all had the feature already (usually via a dealer) even if they didn’t know it.

I think the crossover between Mustang and Mach-E buyers has to be something close to zero.
Weeeellllll, I traded in a 2019 Mustang GT with Performance Pack for my 2023 Mach-E GT PE :). :)

But did you even consider buying a new Mustang GT?

I think that’s what he meant. Lots of us own or have owned Mustangs in the past.

The new 2024 Mustang GT? No, as I just got my 2023 Mach-E in Dec 2022. I went form 460Hp in the 2019 to 485Hp in the Mach-E, felt it was an upgrade :).

Well, in terms of acceleration throttling, it looks like the large majority of the votes are in that there will be no improvement for existing owners/customers, and we all got exactly what we bought, but not what was sold to us or what we paid for.

I hope y’all are wrong. Only time will tell.

The big question is if the Rally has a new HVBJB design, that will change things significantly. The current HVBJB was really not designed for the GT models in terms of heat dissipation. Bus bars are the same size in a RWD standard range as a GTPE even though GTPE amp draw is twice as high and has 3x heat generated. So from an engineering standpoint I don't think the current HVBJB can't handle a whole lot more. Maybe a couple more seconds, but then you'll have a harsher limit for longer afterwards than now because it would take longer to cool down.

I can't believe people are still talking about busbars. There's zero evidence of issues. Ford has said the pack can take it. The chief engineer in the Munro video said the improvements for the rally have been made via software vs. hardware changes.

Confirmation again from the Ford team at the Detroit auto show that a software OTA power increase is coming for existing GTs-

How many more times does Ford have to confirm it before we start to believe them?

Here's the issue. 1000 amps through a bus bar that isn't much bigger than a nickel. The busbar in my 200A breaker panel is beefier than this. That's going to get hot in a jiffy with the full 1050 amps GTPE draws running through it. How much more can be safely run would require some careful study, perhaps Ford did that but 1000 amps through a nickel just seems absurd.

Ford Mustang Mach-E When or will GT/PE 5 Second limit be lifted by OTA IMG_2315

I was told a while back that we would be seeing a "paid" upgrade package for the GT lines. That was direct from a Ford research team. There was never a confirmation that the 5 second limit would be changed however. So, I'm just saying, don't hold your breath...

Them floating the idea to focus groups is much different than the VP saying it in a public interview…….. and now on multiple occasions.

Explain how that's undersized. Placing a nickel next to it tells me the size, but not that it's undersized.

Im not an EE, but the Mach-E’s busbars look similar to other 400v systems. Looks like the Model Y might even use aluminum.
