I bought a Premium (Because I liked the features) AWD (because I love where it snows) Extended Range (because I’m new to EV’s and knew I would have range anxiety). I charged to 90% last night and this morning I ONLY had 148 miles of range. Sorry I forgot to to take a photo before driving to work. But trust me. It said that. Which means that if I didn’t know not to charge to 100% every day (or if I didn’t read the manual) my range would have said ONLY 164 miles!!! That’s ONLY 60% Of what FORD PROMISED ME!

But I had to go to work so off I went. 9.3 miles in 28° F weather. (though I live close enough to Canada I feel confident calling it -2°C). Luckily I had thought ahead and remote started the car while still plugged in. So I was able to get into a nice warm car and not lose any of my range trying to keep toasty. Having contemplated my predicament all the way to work(It’s easily a 12 minute drive with nothing to do except let the cruise control the speed and the lane centering keep it between the lines while I watch for suicidal critters), I remembered to take pictures when I got there. So I submit for evidence the following:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Only 138 miles range at 84% 0DADEA83-E08D-4C2F-9029-62B15795D4CE

Ford Mustang Mach-E Only 138 miles range at 84% 404BDCA8-A4E5-435A-B5A6-6F48ED514BD6

But here’s the real kicker:

I’m THRILLED!

I educated myself before buying the car. I joined this forum BEFORE I bought the car. I asked questions and read EV Blogs and understood what I was getting myself into. I can do math.
I expected a 33% loss in range when it’s 20° F outside. (Another reason I bought extended range). Which means I expected my efficiency to go from 3 miles/kwh to 2 miles/kwh. Instead, by planning ahead and driving careful and warming the car while it was still plugged in, I actually achieved 2.4 miles/kwh. So no matter what lies my GOM wants to tell me, even at 20°, I can achieve 211 miles of range. (2.4*88=211).
THAT’S ONLY A 22% LOSS!!!
This car continues to surpass my every expectation (except the accuracy of the GOM).

So glad I didn’t spend $60K jumping into EV’s without putting some thought into it.

Yup, did similar math with similar (if more pessimistic) results. We need our GT to be able to go 120 miles in the cold from a 90 percent charge. Given what people are seeing, I am confident it will be able to do that comfortably - once it finally gets here (go train go!).

Assuming we have it in time, we have a raid trip into Canada planned (a little under 400 miles each way) in mid January and would like to take the Mach-e. Will get to see how the cold impacts highway cruising!

Yep. And soon enough you can multiply that 2.4m/kWh by 91 rather than 88. Bam, 218 miles at 20F.

If your car says you have 148 miles of range your battery must be defective.

It’s the GOM which as has been stated is overly pessimistic. This is not true range it’s the “we’re telling you this so you don’t get stuck on the side of the road when it’s 35 degrees out” range

You should definitely make an appointment to "work through this" with your dealer. ? ? ?

EDIT: Forgot to add, please report back when this has been "resolved to your satisfaction".

The GOM is always right.

I'm afraid GOM's calculations are closer to reality than yours.
The efficiency (2.4mi/kWh) is measured based on real miles and real power consumption, not the battery capacity. The battery capacity in low temps is significantly lower than the nominal 88kWh, according to GOM it's about 68kWh.
There is only way to know the exact range is to drive from full to empty.

Can we just link all the new "MY CAR HAS LESS RANGE WHEN IT'S COLD HELP" posts to this thread from now on? :D

If your car says you have 148 miles of range your battery must be defective.
The only way to verify this is by asking a technician at a dealership, possibly the one who took the "Mach-E 101" zoom training course.

He knows. He forgot to include the <sarcasm> tag.

Reset your range/trip meters and ease up on the pedal and heater. The number should begin to rise up a bit over a week or two.

How fast do you estimate you were going in that trip? I just completed a short-ish roadtrip; ER RWD with no heat in 24F temperatures, and ended up with ~2 miles per kWH at 70-75 mph.
