I ran it successfully on a car Yesterday. Did they say what the issue they are having is?
Can you tell me what you did? Did you do exactly as the TSB stated? Did you have a new APIM installed at anytime? The only thing I could see in the instructions is maybe they didn't update their FDRS? But that is a given no?

Just followed the TSB. When you run that operation in FDRS, it prompts you on exactly what to do. The TSB mainly just gives picture examples of what to do for the steps of the procedure.

Start with the car hooked up normally to FDRS, then it will ask you if the USB drivers are installed, and if not gives you a link to download that and install. And then it will prompt to connect using the straight usb cable, and it will do a few steps, then it tells you to plug in the ethernet connection and it does a few more steps. And that was it.

I am not doing it, the dealership is. I have no way of doing it myself right now.

I wasn't implying for you to do it. Just answering you asking me what I did.

That little bit I did is literally the whole process. Tech should just click through the prompts and swap the cables when the program says to.

You in San Diego? lol
I'm just a little too far away to come help. Haha.

This is actually pretty accurate. It seems like most dealers just don't want to touch this car.
Absolutely correct per my experience. Got my recall service done with 21P22, they said everything done. Got info from this forum that some modules weren’t updated on mine. Took it back and then the service guy said oh yeah I was having trouble. After a day of having the car there, he said oh we didn’t get to it as we got busy with other things. Now 3rd day and no response. So yes they just don’t want to deal with this and don’t know what to do.

Between the piss poor updates, cherry-picking threads for fixes from @Ford Motor Company and lack of the ability to have the system refresh or check for updates, this car is becoming more of a disappointment.

They need to hire someone like @benk016 to train dealer staff. My local NJ dealer admitted no one knew how to work on these and they had a specialist from Ford HQ in Michigan doing the PaaK updates one at a time. Told me to wait a few months.

Now I have 2 recalls, a CSP and stuck on 2.4.1 and can connect to my iPhone's WiFi, but nothing that touches a fios quantum gateway due to the domain. Stripped it out in UniFi but doesn't matter as no USG.

Hoping for a better software experience, but after 8 months... not holding my breath.

So I went to go pick up my car and it felt so good to drive it again. Love that car so much., but I’m going to have to take it back on Monday and they’re going to replace the APIM and try the update then.
I was thinking of taking it to another dealership. So I gave one a call and they had no idea about the 1.7.1 issue so I’m totally not going to start all over again. I’ll stick with these people and hopefully Monday will be it. I will keep you all posted.

Wait what? So your problem isn’t an actual concern and they thought “other things” are more important? Wtf. Hope you are honest with the survey you get.

Good morning! Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership information? I would like to look into these update and recall concerns for you on my end. Thanks!
