Okay. I'll bite. What does it say about they way I drive this car that I had failed contactors in less than a year with a Select SR AWD?
Lots of DC charging?

Oh snap... it's the real deal. Need to call the dealer ASAP. My Mach-E is on the lot.
Definitely get on that. Very excited for you. Which trim did you get?

The recall fix is now available, ahead of schedule. The fix will be available at dealers now and as an OTA later. You can wait for the OTA in late July/August if you don't want to go to the dealer. Also available in FDRS for self-updaters.

This is a software fix, no parts are required.

A big thanks to the engineers that got this out early! ??

How is a 2 year old (5/27/20) problem getting it out early?

It says that the guessing as to what behavior will cause them to fail is simply guessing.

Is there a site that shows if the recall was cleared for your vehicle?
No.

The recall has NOT yet been posted to the FordPass app. Once posted, it will clear some time after the recall fix is completed. If a dealer does the update, it will clear when they process the paperwork. For the OTA update, it will clear when it clears.

People constantly running their VIN through different sites checking for the recall on their vehicle are simply wasting their time. After the software fix is applied, those constantly checking to see if the recall clears are even less productive.

The part is rated for 500 amps continuous. DCFC hits that or lower. But heats it effectively to full temperature. Then you get in and drive sanely and it should be fine. If you then get in and pull 750A constantly (Premium) or 900A (GT) etc you will QUICKLY exceed it’s design capactity and risk failure. Ford likely originally expected this and had some dial back programmed in. I suspect this update makes it engage that faster. That’s all.
This is just wrong. Where did you get your numbers? It’s rated for well more than 500A. Remember there are two sets of contactors - one for DCFC one for the pack to rest of car. From what I’ve been told the design specifications are actually just over the max a GTPE pulls (1050A). Problem is heat buildup at higher currents or high continuous current.

The pack side at a minimum has a higher rating than this. The link is irrelevant unless you have pictures of part #'s off of the contactors matching this. There's a chance I could be wrong I guess but from what I heard from some grumblings of engineers the rating was much higher than that.

I admit I'm basing this on @SpaceEVDriver 's post that this spec sheet matches whats in the car. I assume he got the part number from the survey thread in one of those pages. But I'll defer to him.

Went ahead and did this myself last night on my 10/2021 build GT. I last ran FDRS updates in April, so I had 12 updates to do (PCM, SOBDMC, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, OBCC, BCM, GWM, WACM, HVAC, DSM, and CMR).

The 22S41 updates took on the first try with no issues (did PCM first, as recommended here). Only took about 30-45 minutes, but the rest took a couple hours. The CMR in particular took forever. Shoutout to @kmusk01 for sharing some insight on how to get the GWM to take, it was my first update to ever require a USB device.

No noticeable difference in driving to work today.

New Software P/Ns after 22S41 in my GT are:
PCM: MJ98-14C204-ABL
BECM: LK98-14C197-CG
SOBDMC: LK98-14G069-BM
SOBDM: LJ98-14F476-AU
SOBDMB: LK98-14H297-BL

Sorry, I did not read this whole thread....................

I've had the HVBJB and the BECM replaced on my car. Do I still need this update? I'd assume yes...but you know what they say about ASSUME. Makes an ASS out of U and ME ?

If so, I'll wait for the OTA most likely
Where are the HVBJB and BECM physically located? I saw a picture further in the tread of four contactors but I don't know how accessible they are. At first I heard talk that they would have to drop the battery to get to them but after reading this I'm wondering if they are in a more accessible location.
