I'd only want a build date on a Lightning if they also threw the recall on builds before X date so I knew I was getting upgraded parts. I mean, the Lightning is the GTPE's motors, I'd assume its essentially the same battery control gear just with a bigger pack attached too. Maybe they beefed things up because towing, but then again Europe can tow in the MME...

I think I was lucky in that I installed the updates last week.

My GT Performance threw the error while I was passing someone. I love how the snapshot of the event in the FDRS shows I was going 85mph.

I'm curious as to how long my dealer will take to fix it. I'm guessing the bottleneck will be getting the parts.

Sorry - that is "FAKE NEWS". The Lightning has different motors and the battery pack comes from SKI. It is a completely different EV drivetrain. I am sure it will have it's own warts, but they will be different warts.

Whelp, I know they finished my car despite what the service advisor advised me, since they charged it fully last night. I bet this guy doesn't realize I know every time they open the door.

Time to get my car back and test the part out on the Grapevine.

Here's an example of how horrible Ford dealers are (in general). My car has been done since last night. They charged it overnight. The dealer claimed to me this morning the tech needed to "test drive" it and was busy, and so they'll have it for me sometime this afternoon.

I tried to explain to them that I'd like to check out of our hotel and drive 6 hours home today, and is there any possibility for them to test drive it soon? And he said he would "pass along the message".

So I'm just sitting here refreshing my FordPass app to see when the tech decides to drive it down the block and verify the car works. Ugh.

Geeze, this is a sure fire way to fail if you are a GT. Seems like 90% of the patched GT's are failing..I wonder how long it would have been ok if not patched. Maybe it is a good idea to race around the dealers lot after the patch to just get it over with while you're there. I'm already sick of this problem..

Any April 22 GTs affected yet?

Apparently none of the dealers realize this (that we monitor the cars in their care.) Good luck! I expect it to go wonderfully ? once you actually get on the road that is. I'd give them some credit for getting the job done quickly.

My son's favorite is Laibach- don't think the car would dare fail with 'Achtung!' blaring from the speakers. :D

Going N down the grapevine is a great way to test pushing power through to the HV Battery. I'd typically get around 11 mi back in that 3 mi stretch.

Maybe try a different soundtrack then the Blippi one, that may have jinxed you. Your young children might appreciate something by Nine Inch Nails perhaps? :p

Good luck on the drive!

I feel like you’re capable of testing the car yourself. I’d go get my car.

They're not releasing the car to me yet, so I think I have to wait.

Just went and grabbed our MME GT from my wife's work. I was able to drive it 30 miles to the dealership under reduced power. It had enough power to drive it at highway speeds and was safe. I concur with rcechinel that the software is most likely preventing catastrophic failure of the HVBJB. I hope it can be replaced with a functioning switch....I love the car. MTF....
That's encouraging, can you say some more about what that was like in terms of available power?

Were you flooring it and maxing out at 60? Giving half throttle and reaching 70 with still some room to go faster? Something else?

Honestly, I think this is a situation where showing up and demanding to talk to the manager might get you somewhere and is justified. If they are gonna drive it for 5 min to make sure everything is peachy, there is no reason they need to put this off to 4:00 p.m. since you have a long drive today ahead of you.

I'm wondering if any Mach-e that have had the software update prior to delivery/sale have failed? I believe the failures I have read thus far were not.
Also, of those who have had the failure, how long have they owned the car & how many miles? I know there might not be any cause/effect, but just curious.

I honestly think we are just detecting all the damaged parts prior to full failure... which is the safe and 'proper' thing to do.
The current software update being installed by dealers could be bugged, or you may be correct. We shall see.
