Poll: How full do you plan on charging your Mach E on a regular basis?

I work from home (even before COVID) and my cars average maybe 7000 miles per year. But on weekends I sometimes take longer trips. So I'm thinking I'll probably mostly charge to 80% ... I really don't need long range most of the time.

On summer weekends I have a destination that probably puts about 200+ miles on the car ... so I'll likely top it off before heading out on those trips.

I won’t be babying this car...I expect to do full charge to empty driving once a week, unless the range is better than expected. I have a 240 mile drive I regularly do across multiple mountain passes so the ER AWD will be challenged for sure, especially in the winter months.

I think the car's charging schedule screens can be set by day too, so it should be easy to set it to charge 80% on weekdays and 100% on weekends.

That might help, because the hard part is going to be remembering the night before to change that's night's charge. I could see having it set to charge to 80% normally, then wanting to leave for a weekend trip Sat morning when the "Oh crap, I forgot to change it to 100% last night!" realization hits. And it takes 2-3 more hours on L2 to get it there.

That's another reason I think my normal setting will be 90% instead of 80%.

No doubt, you're gonna need 100% for that. Maybe more (at least in one direction). And with heat on many of those months.

Be curious to hear if you can safely make that 240 miles in one leg with no charging stop. Even though it won't be at 75 MPH, I kinda doubt it. Maybe in the summer.

It does look like there's more chargers going into the mountains though. Looks like Salida and Buena Vista have 62 kW chargers now. I think that might be your route, IIRC.

During the summer months I think I’ll be starting my commute out at 65-60% and get back home around 45-40%. Trying to hover around 50%. During winter I may bump up to 75% to start.

Roughly the same for me has I'm retired and won't even use the car necessaraly every day, but I will bother my wife just to see if she doesn't need anything, so I plan of keeping the battery around 50% to 60% in summer and maybe 65% to 75% in winter, plug it at all times and charge at 100% when planning a road trip.

In Phoenix, it's hot. Heat permanently damages batteries. I will baby it if I can. Especially since it is so simple -- set the percentage in the settings and forget about it. Only an issue on the rare car trip.

There may or may not be an upside, but I don't see a downside.

My commute is about 50 miles. I set my car to be at 65% when I leave for work, and it hovers in the vicinity of 50% most of the day. I won't change that strategy, notwithstanding long distance.

Remembering to charge should be made easier by using my newly installed JuiceBox 40. You can schedule via the app to take advantage of off-peak times.

But I think the car can do that too. That's what I meant about that feature helping, for someone that tends to take long weekend trips. Just set the weekends to always charge to 100%.

Saw Tour in Woodland Hills, SoCal, today. Could not find any place on the menus for setting max charge %. Tour Guides said they didn't know about any options to set a max charge.

I will propably charge at 80-90% if ford keep the 11% buffer but I have a question regarding performance since it will be the first time I drive or be in a full EV;
Is the performance get lower the less batterie % you have?

Most BEV's go into an energy saving mode when the amount of charge left in the battery goes below a certain threshold. In energy saving mode it limits your maximum speed and may limit the heater/air conditioner as well. We don't know if the mach e will do this, but it is expected it will when the battery gets down to very low levels of charge (say 10%).

Average speed over this route is just under 60 mph so even with the mountains, it might be doable on one charge. Yeah, my route takes me past BV and Salida so I could charge there, but I’m really hoping for a DCFC in Gunnison someday, more the midpoint. Just L2 chargers there currently.

The only thing missing IMHO is a current set up for charging like on a Tesla, to me this is sometingt they should add in the charging setup hopefully pretty fast. What is the email address of the Ford EV team ?
