Apologies if this has been answered already, but wouldn't we still have to park on the wrong side of a supercharger and deal with an incredibly short cable? If so, I may not be comfortable pulling up to a busy supercharger, especially here in California.

This also makes me wonder if these future NACS-enabled cars would have their charge port relocated.

Yes, the same issues with using the Magic Dock will still occur with using the provided adapter, parking close enough for cable to reach and potentially blocking an adjacent spot from a Tesla being able to use it. The V4 Superchargers should eliminate most of these issues with a centered parking spot placement and longer cable.

I can give my perspective as a current Tesla owner who, because of Elon wants to get rid of his Tesla. It really has nothing to do with politics either. Yes, Elon has always been known to be eccentric & erratic. I just never thought despite that eccentricity he would allow anything unsafe to be pushed to the cars.

As a software developer I understand what beta software is, and FSD in every respect is early on beta software. Especially when I was on the subscription model a year ago. It was unsafe to be installed in my car. Completely unsafe. For a car that is completely software based, it left me with an uneasy feeling.

When he bought Twitter I started hearing more about his management style. More about how his Tesla engineers would argue about the safety of a particular aspect and he'd fire them on the spot. Former engineers claiming software was pushed out that wasn't ready but Elon put priority on the data capture it would generate to train the AI neural net.

Politically, I couldn't wrap my head around why the guy would side with the anti-climate change party. The anti-EV party. It just didn't make sense. Was it because Biden didn't invite him to the EV summit? Was it because Biden's new legislation promised to tax corporations and the wealthy?

The biggest reason was I don't trust Elon putting my safety above his vision for self driving.

Ford's being managed into the ground =/. This isn't even the worst of it, heck their Michigan plant stopped production on the Ford Bronco (manual + everglades versions), one of their top sellers to get ready to start production of the Rangers. It seems they can't do more than one car at a time.

Honestly this is one of the smartest things they've done but I don't think it will be enough, they might have to ditch Farley all together and get someone who can get them back on track.

I hear people expecting future the Mach E to have both a CCS and a NACS port but I don’t think that’s the reality. Ford is on a mission to turn a profit with the Model E division. Removing the CCS charging port in favor of NACS represents a great cost savings to the company.

Oh and for people complaining about cord length. If Ford is making the adapter for next year, we don't know that it doesn't include a bit of extension

Also on the v4 supercharger those cables are getting longer (but those are gonna be few and far between)

I wonder how they will implement the Tesla connector in 2025 and later vehicles. I assume they would still have to have the current connectors too right?
Nope.

From the looks of it, as of next year we will all have Supercharger access, using a NACS to J1772 adapter. Then the next-gen vehicles will all have a NACS port but can use a J1772 to NACS adapter. A little clunky, but I'M totally jazzed to get Supercharger access.

So does Tesla not want any of the government $$ to build magic docks?

Or are only some stations going to be retrofitted with magic dock And other stations Will just be Tesla/Ford?

No thank you. Have you seen the lines at Tesla stations?
Around me? Tesla stations don't have lines. I've not seen one at more than 50% utilization and they don't just put in 4 bays, they put in 8+ bays.

The CCS (largely EA) stations though? Often lines and that was before they starteded being derated or outright broken, which is a bit of a rarity. Also, hi rivian thanks for filling up the (single, 4-bay EA) Bloomington station all the freaking time. Meanwhile there are 20 (!) supercharger stalls in two locations over in the twin city of Normal (although less convenient from a travel point of view than the EA station is).

We don't take the MME to the in-laws in winter, because of the CCS charging desert that most of IL outside of Chicago is. With supercharger access? It'd be absolutely no problem.

That's the plan for next year, we'll be getting MagicDock like connectors it seems like that we can take around. 2025 they will be built in standard
The point being, we won't have to worry about finding a Magic Dock SC, we'll have access to ALL of them!
