Martin, mine is similar to yours (500GB) which like you said is overkill but I use this little SSD for many other things besides FDRS. I think I only used a USB stick for 2 or 3 updates before I got fed up with the slow speed and that was about 2 years ago.

So I installed the new IPC update. Didn't think to look and capture the old IPC version before installing... after the update I am now on the IPC version PJ8T-14C026-BD.

And KUDOS to HuntingPudel. Following his advice, I installed this with my new USB-C external m.2 SSD. Wayyyy faster although (of course) the SSD capacity is overkill for this use. I got it on sale at MicroCenter for $49 + tax. SO worth it for all the FDRS updates which need a USB.
I bought a cheap lightly used 256Gb NVME SSD on eBay and a external USB-C housing, total about $35 including tax. Now I just need all the BC 1.3 modules to show up in FDRS?

Does it have to be wiped or can you have other files on it? I have an external SSD but thought it had to be wiped.

I quick-format mine every time just like the USB drive I formerly used. exFat format.

I've never tried with files on it. Like Martin, I do a quick format before using it for FDRS.

Someone just reported 6.13 installing on their '22, anyone seeing anything new in FDRS? My '21 Job 2 doesn't have anything (no connected network scan though). Driver facing camera, so maybe a CMR?

Past couple of OTA haven't been showing up in FDRS for me, including that one.

I have the IPC update waiting and assume that once applied the CMR one will follow, or maybe they are both there now and order doesn't matter.

I asked earlier about the IPC update and it is primarily a USB update.

What about the CMR?

I ask because I cheaped out and bought a 30 A power supply. Every update I have applied using it have been short and have not taxed the battery or power supply.

I remember reading that some of the original BlueCruise 1.0 updates were to modules that took a long time with all the pumps running.

Is the CMR one of those modules? What are the modules where you really should have a 60 A power supply?

I think the IPMA as it can take a couple of hours to update sometimes.

CMR is CAN buss. Roughly 52 minutes give or take.

I am beginning to think the APIM update I got was out of sync with the GWM version.

I did a routing with Waz under Android Auto yesterday and things were doing good until I was getting low on SOC and wanted to switch over to Ford Navigation to find charging. It seemed to initialize correctly initially. I think it did a reroute and it got weird. The distance to the charger stayed at 20 miles while the distance to destination decreased. The banner across the top said Initializing Navigation and the cancel button to the right did not work. It said something about canceling FordPass route and then went back to the Initializing Navigation banner. I tried resetting the APIM and it just came back the same. When I got to charger site I turned off the car and turned it back on. It restored the same situation. I had to turn off my phone and cycle the car power to break out of the jam. There was some brief message about car pool lanes and I wonder if this question froze everything up.

But it gets worse as I saw the dreaded IPC update come up in FDRS this morning. Before I did car programming I got a GWM DTC that it has lost ethernet communications with the APIM. A clear and retest did not clear the problem. I went ahead and tried USB update, but the flash drive was not recognized by the car. It is maybe a mistake, but I am doing the 6 hour IPC update via OBD2.

I suspect the car missed getting the GWM update and changes with the APIM version is causing problems. Has anyone else noticed this or have any ideas on how to correct it? Would pretending I replaced the GWM module force the GWM to be updated? I am going to see if any other updates pop up after the IPC update is done.

Whether you need a bigger supply depends on which systems are active during the update and how long the update takes. Since it’s a CANbus update and takes a bit of time, you might be at the edge of your battery’s capacity at the end. I don’t know what the draw is for this update is though. The most I have seen in the past for a prolonged update was ~43A, FWIW. Most updates are under 40A. ?‍♂?

One thing I forget to do is to turn off the headlights and wipers before I do programing. So the headlights were on and the intermittent wipers wiped for the 6+ hours it took to program the IPC. I lifted the wipers off the dry windshield. When they say over 6 hours, they mean it, so I did other things. Unfortunately the driver's door caught the first latch when I closed it. The button did not work when I looked in and saw the turn ignition off dialog. I thought I would have to disconnect the battery. I tried the rear driver's side door and it opened! I guess the capacitor in the driver's door got discharged.

I also found out during the wait that I was not doing an APIM factory reset before. I was pressing the volume down with the bottom seek button. This seems to be a quick screen reset. The button I should have tried was the top seek button with the volume down. I should make up a card with all the various special button presses.

The configuration of the module after programing failed for several repeated attempts, so I stopped retrying. It turns out I lost my server connection and wireless connection. I quit FDRS, reconnected to my wireless network, and logged in again. I got a bunch of DTCs. I cleared and retested with the result of everything now coming up green. So the GWM problem with the APIM was solved.

I know the procedure will pick up where it left off, so I ran the IPC update again. It went right into the configuration of the module and it was successful. No other updates appeared and I put my toys away.

I do wonder if doing a factory reset of the APIM would have cleared up the Ethernet problem.
