“Not sure why Ford was so focused on the reduced charge time that they forgot to highlight these huge improvements to 0-60 times:

Standard range RWD: 5.6s (MY23: 6.3s)

Standard range AWD: 4.6s (MY23: 4.8s)

Extended range RWD: 5.2s (MY23: 6.1s)

Extended range AWD: 4.1s (MY23: 4.8s)

GT with Performance Package: 3.3s (MY23 GTPE: 3.5s)

All this plus an increase in range? This is some really respectable mid-life improvements and makes me bullish about Ford’s in-house motor which seems to be driving these improvements.

As a comparison, all the comparable Model Y trims are now slower than the Mach-E:

Model Y Standard range RWD: 6.6s

Model Y Long Range AWD: 4.8s

Model Y Performance: 3.5s”

Does this make the Mach-E the performance king of this class? I don’t think any of the Hyundai/Kia/VW products even come close at this point.

wow, i didn't even notice the 4X time being dropped to 4.1 seconds. That's seriously quick. Note that the current 4X doesn't do 4.8 seconds as advertised, it's more like 5.1 seconds but still, point taken. That definitely smokes the Model Y LR.

The MME's long charging time is still a problem though. Tesla Model Y charges much quicker to 80% and crucially, crushes the MME during a 15-20 minutes stop.

Not that I expected Ford to increase the power of my 4X when I bought it, but is there any chance that could happen with a future software update? I wouldn't be opposed to having a second or so shaved off of my Mach-E's 0-60 time.

I feel like the initial charge on the Ford EVs is where we see the best numbers, thanks to that boost function. I see really high speeds for the first 10 minutes, at least. So a 15-20 minute stop is pretty good in the Mach E, it's the deeper charges that take long.

Wow, that’s a particularly huge jump for the AWD ER, great job Ford!

The ER pack gets 40% back after 20 mins of charging starting at 150kW and then drifting down to 90-something. After 20 mins, it drops into the 75-80kW range until 80%.

The EGMP and Tesla Model Y blow past the MME on a 20 minute charge.

I really hope Ford does something for faster charging ‘21-‘23 Mach-Es because 40% in 20 mins only gets my GT about 85-90 miles of range at freeway speeds.

+1 Ford making real improvements

-1 Tesla for lying... the Y LR figure includes rollout... the Y performance figure does not.

On the AS3's yes, questionable, but the car is heavy so it could well plant it with the right launch. I'm sure the tests wern't run by Jimmy the car jockey at Ernhardt Ford so it's numerous tries for them to get those numbers. HP/tq/awd wise I always felt the Prem should have been hitting much lower 0-60 than 4.8~5.5

Just like they do with range, it seems Tesla under delivers with charging times. Branden Flasch (YouTuber and changing expert) has a Model Y with the new 4680 cells. His assessment is that the new Ys charging is abysmal. He's done multiple tests.

That new rear motor plus the software to drive it. Just, wow. Good job. Looking forward to a crate motor upgrade path. You got that Ford? Offer an upgrade kit. ??

currently car-less, but hope to get a MME!

Yeah, go Ford! The range + acceleration improvements must be due to the new rear e-Motor which is installed on all the trim levels.

If only it had a heat pump too.

You are kidding right? EV6 GT official numbers are 3.2 but many are getting 3.0. Ioniq 5N also 3.0 but I think they will do 2.9 when more are out among us.
