I expect that the market will be infected by used recalled adapters. Is there or will there be any way to tell them from the replacement adapters?
I didn't get the adapter yet from Ford but have been disappointed with their schedule slippages. When i was working at Ford as a design engineer a schedule slippage couldn't be more that the time to the original time projected original time projected. So if you had projected it was in one months and then reported two months people would be ok with that. But if you had said one month from now and came back with 6 months prediction later it was grounds for termination.
Ford has their credit card numbers. I guess if the recalled adapters are not sent back as required, Ford could charge the offenders for the replaced adapters.

I'm not sure who at Ford they could terminate for Tesla letting their schedule slip.

Although the nice lady at Ford said it was the part number.....and no mention of production dates....I suspect that it's going to be definitely the part number as well as a certain date range.

Over on the Lightning forum the admin there has one with that part number but his was made in March.....waaay outside the 'end of May' bunch that we've been seeing reported. So this isn't over yet. It's like nailing jello to a tree trying to get a handle on the facts.

Just to make sure this gets maximum visibility.....

After talking with a rep from the BEV team yesterday afternoon who gave me updated information....regardless of the serial number or manufacture date, if your adapter carries part number

(P) 1434343-00-D

it's being replaced. No matter whether you've only gotten one email so far, (if you have two adapters) if both of them have that part number they will be replaced, and shipped out to you in the same shipment sequence the original adapters were sent.

You will receive a prepaid return label with the replacement for the defective one to be sent back.

The defective adapters seem to have been made during the last two weeks of May.
And yet I've received no emails asking me to replace mine:

I suspect it is both serial number and date of manufacture as I've heard of no issue on these March-built adapters.

Yes, pretty sure the date of manufacture will be the more telling identifying information. Patrick (@Mach-E VLOG) did get confirmation that it was “one batch.” We just do not have parameters yet for what “one batch” means with respect to the affected adapters. Maybe something will be forthcoming, maybe not. As of this time we have to rely on the emails that Ford sent out as that is the only thing that is concrete. ??

Yes, I got that same "one batch" confirmation directly from an official source in Ford.

One thing Ford is awful at is COMMUNICATION. This is just one more example of that. AWFUL. The announcement should have contained all the information, because they clearly knew it. Instead, email gets sent, blows up, frontline doesn't know crap, headlines are plastered everywhere like cars are going to melt or blowup. What a cluster. Ford can't get out of its own way sometimes.

lol.....sure. they could care if they even get the adapters back, they just need to make the effort to show they care...
