What exactly is a signed purchase agreement in this context? Is that just an invoice/small contract with the agreed price and both the salesman and buyer's signatures? Shouldn't everyone have something like that?
Usually you wont have one if you did an online order only, if you did the order in store some people have them and some don't. The good thing is most dealers honor what they agreed to without that its a few that don't and they cause problems for everyone and worry.
You would be surprised how many people don't cover their ass and get one only to show up at the dealer to pick up their car and "SURPRISE, we're adding an ADM of $5k/$10k/whatever!" in hopes that they will walk away from their order where they're more likely to get that ADM to go in their greedy pockets. Have you not seen the threads here where people are complaining about that?
All I have is what is labeled a "Transaction Worksheet" from the dealer. It has the price and cost breakdown, plus our signatures. But at the bottom it does day "this is not a contract or an offer to sell the vehicle on these or any other terms. Neither customer nor dealer are bound by this document." I took over someone's cancelled order from the dealership. This wasn't online. There was a $10,500 markup, but I negotiated down to $2500. Hopefully I dont have to renegotiate when I pickup the car. I did read all the reviews online for this dealer and specific salesman, and they were all pretty good. No one mentioned getting screwed last minute.
I'm taking over an order like you are, too. Wasn't meaning for any of that to sound as an attack, I'm sorry if it came across that way. I've just seen so many people get screwed over by a dealership because they didn't have anything at all where there was an agreement in writing with signatures. It was even worse over on the Bronco forum.

The dreaded ramp 6R. My car is supposed to be delivered next week, but there it sits - Ramp 6R. my MME order was assigned a batch (8071) that was started in 9/5 build week. It was assembled on 9/13, shipped 9/15, arrived in KC vicinity 9/25. It's been there for 26 days, so far without an update, apparently waiting for a ride to California. In the middle of the first delivery ETA dates, it was extended another 26 days. So, if they deliver on last day of the current delivery ETA (11/4-11/10) it will have been 56 days in "shipped" status.
Dealer has access to VVR. My dealer is indifferent to my inquiries. Chat operators sometimes need persistent questioning to get the details. Very flawed system.
My windows next week and I'm discouraged from the rest of the delays westwards. Frustrating that the exact build of polestar 2 I almost got shows as "immediate delivery" and my cars stuck an 8 hour drive away, 6R since the 7th. I think my wife is fine as a one car household but I'll be so happy when it gets here.
Yes quite frustrating really, ford needs to step it up and pressure their shipping contractors to get things moving.
