Still wondering logic why i have to charge some where first before i can change it. Then hwve to set a "prefered" location. Especially traveling. Have to set up at every hotel at more than a day. I have to go change it at home when i want 100% why do i need to set a "prefered" location?

Hi!
I am needing some advice. I feel like I’ve read and done everything has been suggested and my car is still charging to 100%. First off the gps in the car thinking I’m charging my neighbors house. Previously it has never been my correct address which was fine because it always recognized me at “home” and did my charging preferences. I have deleted, reset, reentered you name it. It starts by saying I am charging at home (will attach photo below) but then I wake up and it says I’m not charging at home and charges to 100. (Attach second photo) I’m at a loss at what to do.

With one of the updates it changed to 100 percent. I tried everything to get it back to 90 percent but gave up and lit it be controlled by the charger and that has worked. I may try to go back normal when I have time but for now the charger controlling it works fine.

At a hotel, you should be charging to 100% for the next day's journey. The Lighting allows you to set a one-time limit, which the Mach-E should have also IMO.

The charger cannot control the SOC, since it has no idea of the level.

how many "preferred locations" do you have saved? the fact that the first picture shows "home's" target charge is 85% but the second showing "home's" target charge is 100% leads me to think you have two things named home with different target charge levels?

When I got mine on February 2, 2021 it would charge to 100% as soon as plugged in even thou the schedule was set. It still says it is parked at my neighbors to this date (fordpass say the one next to us on our side and sync says the one across the street). It does not matter as long as it thinks that is where it is when you plug in (it uses coordinates). Charging schedule was not honored for the dealer at there place either.

Long story short they changed the SOBDMC module and has worked ever since. Defective SOBDMC modules was obviously my problem. It never worked out of the box and the module swap fixed it.

It’s just not good to always charge to 100

I only have one location set. I’ve deleted and reset it like 10 times ? It doesn’t show me multiple because i only charge at home. It charged for an hour like that and then somehow switched thru the night and my settings were changed to charge anytime, I checked in the morning when I woke up.

My '21 GT did the same. It would charge to the target (90%), and stop, then start back up later and charge to 100%, no matter what I did. Never did get it fixed but I understand the SOBDMC going to sleep incorrectly was probably the issue.

Ford ABSOLUTELY needs to give MME owners the ability to set a global maximum charge level, regardless of location, like my BMW i4 does. And it is super easy to change if you want to charge to 100% before a trip.

It sounds like there is something glitchy in the configuration of one or more modules. It's a bit of a PITA to do, but you could try resetting the car by removing the negative cable from the 12V battery for about 10 minutes and then reinstall it. This will cause all modules in the car to boot up fresh (but they will still be programmed and you should not lose any settings).

We have experienced most of these symptoms. I have advocated to Ford that they should not save charge settings to a central server location AND that they should add a SYNC NOW button on the Ford Pass App and in the MME settings. This eliminates settings at a central server overriding local settings, i.e. your settings at your current location. The SYNC NOW button would record the day, time, person and source of the most current settings. Source being Ford Pass App or the MME. I realize in the MME a profile would need to identify the person. Settings would be synched across the MME and Ford Pass App, and perhaps recorded to a central server for history and troubleshooting, but never for controlling charging settings.

I wonder if deleting the ford pass app and redownloading it would change anything? The app seems to recognize and for the first part of charging it does fine, but then somehow throughout the night, it changes, and then starts charging to 100%.
Sometimes apps get a bug when they are installed, try deleting the app and reinstalling to see if it fixes your issue. If that doesn't work I would call the help desk on the FordPass app, very helpful when I've reached out to them. Good luck.

You have warm climate so watch it and walk out and pull out the cable out when it hits 80-90%. Not ideal but works and stops it from going to 100%. You can watch % on fordpass to see when it hits 80.

This may be the worst workaround I've heard of... wait around and watch my car charge for the moment I need to get up and unplug it. No thanks.

It might be even worse than planning a road trip by spending half a day using ABRP, researching every potential stop in Plugshare, and double-checking during the drive just to (maybe) confirm whether chargers are working along the way.

Welcome to my world for the first 4.5 months of ownership.

I also recommend the 12V reset. SOBDM is doing odd stuff here, a reset is worthwhile rather than trying to mess with it.

I also recommend not charging until your garage door is closed when you set it up. If you park under an open metal garage door, it will block the GPS signal from above and cause greater position error.
