I’m having issues where when I plug in on any level 2 charger the charging stops after 45 minutes to an hour.

when charging stops I have continuous flashing amber lights on the charge port of the car

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this Mach-E charging concern on my end.

Mine does this as well but only if I'm charging higher than 32 amps. I have a Chargepoint Homeflex on a 60A breaker and if I try it at higher charge settings it will randomly stop charging and flash the orange lights around 30 mins +- after plugging in. If you're able to lower the power on your EVSE, I'd suggest trying that.

It is at the dealership right now for the windshield recall and they're taking a look into it. I'll let you know what I find out.

I read in another thread to do this on my Grizzl-e. I charge at 40A but just switched to 32A. Will test tonight when the electric goes to off peak pricing.

Let me know if it solves your issue. If they can't find any issue with my car it would be nice to have some ammo knowing it isn't just me with the issue.

Lowering the Amps on an EVSE to charge my car is an unworkable solution when these are public chargers . I don’t believe I have the ability to do that

Most of the public AC chargers in my area top out at 32A so it hasn't been a big issue for me yet. However, it has also made it more difficult to pinpoint whether it is my car that is the issue or my home EVSE.

So since the day of my last post I have not had any issues at 32A charging. Grizzle is sending me a new unit to rule out it's the unit. Once that one comes in, I will use it at 40A like before and see what happens. Ford Engineering emailed me separately and are looking into it too. One time it stopped charging, I noticed the plug was pretty hot. Uncomfortably hot so I left it unplugged as to not start a fire. I think they took notice to that observation.

All of my issues stopped when I went back to the Ford charger that came with the car. I think the update increased the amount of power going to the car and the charger was then made obsolete. I sent the charger I had purchased (because it had a longer cord) back (it was under warranty) and they are mailing me a newer one with higher capacity.

I had the dealer install updates yesterday and they charged the MME to 100% without asking me . I haven’t previously charged past 95%, usually 90% at home.

The SOC stayed at 100% for 12 miles and 2 pre-conditionings. Was our MME charged past 100%?

I don't think the charge settings have anything to do with the faults.

No, I think it just reads at 100% a little longer. Was there a significant temperature change during the time period?

No, it was a constant 45 unless it was charged inside the service area. The GOM did go down from 240 to 215 at 100%.

I have a new charger coming too as a warranty replacement. When I switched to 32A it's been working fine. I will try the new one at 40A again and I also have an appointment this month at the dealer. Ford CS said they are coordinating with dealer to send an Engineer since I noticed the plug gets really hot when it faults at 40A

Yikes!

Seems like things shouldn't get hot at 40 amps on a car that should be able to accept 48 from a home charger. I'm curious: is it the plug/receptacle in the car's fender that gets hot, the EVSE's cord-end that plugs into the fender, or the wall receptacle that gets hot (assuming you're not hard-wired)?

I was rooting for the smart vs. dumb charger to be the issue, but it sounds like at least one person has experienced this with a 40 amp dumb charger on this thread.

As I understand it, the car's onboard charging unit should absolutely not be able to successfully demand more amps than the EVSE can safely give. They're supposed to come to an agreement and play nice.
