It reliably locks and folds mirrors like a turtle retreating into its shell as soon as I approach it and press the door unlock button ?

I just completed a seven-week, cross-country round trip yesterday, and added 10,515 miles to the odometer making my total 46,175 miles in 15 months of ownership. I had two teeny warranty issues, both fixed ASAP: the hinge pin for the sunglass holder broke, and the driver's door hinge started creaking (which meant a direct hinge insert mechanism replacement - a less than one hour of dealer work once the part came in).

Based on this history, I deem the Mach E very reliable. I am not gentle in my driving... and the mileage speaks for itself.

I've had a GMC Terrain with 3 engines by the time it hit 60k miles and a host of other issues. A Mercedes C300 that needed an engine rebuild at 11k miles due to a poor tolerance on a wrist pin. A Subaru Forester that had its doors rusting from the inside out within 2 years of ownership. A Tacoma that, while not technically a reliability problem, drove like utter dog shit with the worlds worst transmission programming. So far my '21 GT has had a seatbelt replaced and the HVBJB. The HVBJB was a hassle, but in the end I don't need to worry about whether or not the head surface was measured and bolts torqued and retorqued in the right order, gasket material didn't find its ways in the oil galleys, improper oil won't cause LSPI and destroy piston ringlands, etc. I'm happy with the reliability so far. For a first real attempt at an EV...I think they did a bang up job.

These software issues are just bugs. I would not categorize them into reliability. The system for the car is very complex, it is not surprising there are some bugs. I measure reliability on repair bills. Battery replacement being the biggest concern. Motor replacement the second. Then parts like AC units, Charger units, center screen, etc. My bumper to bumper warranty is about to expire soon. Not sure if I want to keep it after 100K after the battery warranty is gone. Will see if any repair bills come up before then. So far nothing has broke yet. Too bad the used price of MME is like free falling rock. Makes no sense to trade it in for others cars now.
They’re just bugs, but holy crap my car is an ant hill!

They come and go, but the sheer volume of bugs is relentless. Some bugs are daily and don’t go away (like how my auto fan speed will NEVER go to auto speed until I change the temperature). Others are just frustrating (guest profile bug, headlight bug). And only a few have required a trip to the dealer (mag ride suspension fault). Some are poor design (how many times I have to push the unlock button to unlock).

My definition of “reliable” is simple-

Can you rely on the car to do what it’s supposed to do?

And with the Mach E? Unfortunately it’s a HELL NO!

And yet it’s my favorite car I’ve owned. Good thing it’s pretty and drives so dang well!

Here is my list of bugs-
Headlight switch

Profile issue

Memory seat issue

Parking sensor screen issue

Volume control fault

Charge fault

Recall

Blind spot system fault

Cross traffic system fault

Reverse brake assist not available

Driver selectable system fault Service required.

Suspension fault speed limited to 80 mph

Auto ac blower low speed after starting

Screen slow loading

XM presets keep changing

This is a purely un-scientific poll and simply based on what you THINK with the experience you have had.

For me, after 9 days at the dealer (and the dealer sucks) and all of the software issues, I don't have faith that Ford can make the Mach E right.
The display is sluggish, the random errors are mind boggling (drive mode) and no complaints would be complete without PAAK.
The hatch randomly stops when you close it, key fob, foot kick or button on the hatch.

I plan on moving on but I don't know what to get next.

Don't crucify me. Just answer the poll and lets chat about it.
Maybe you got a lemon and bad dealer. I e had zero issues barring a door sensor and when I called dealer they had me in and fixed in 2 days. Issues with every car wv or otherwise.

This. I'd be out but I don't want to be out that much depreciation. I have preferred every single other EV I've owned.

I mean, it depends on your definition of “reliable”.

Considering I had one MME that had a HVJB failure, and had to do a recall repair for the windshield, and all that happened within 8k miles.

My second MME had a HVJB failure at 5k miles. It also had a suspension fault at 4k miles. The suspension fault was resolve by a software update.

I think the MME will have above average reliability long term, but thus far, it’s probably the least reliable car I have ever owned.

I find it really funny when people do these types of polls on this community and expect balanced results.

So, let me help you redo the questions so they are appropriate for this forum.

How reliable do you THINK it will be?

  • Very Reliable, because I'm a fanboy and Ford can do no wrong.
  • Above Average, because I probably paid more than I wanted to and my ego won't let me pick anything lower.
  • Average, because I really don't think it'll be reliable but this poll isn't anonymous and I don't have the cajones to be honest.
  • Below Average (only chosen by those who don't know it's not anonymous)
  • My brain hurts, don't make me choose - the cop out
  • I'm moving on to another vehicle. I don't trust Ford - this answer should come with s warning label.

From Cambridge Dictionary:

a machine, piece of equipment, or systemthat is reliable always works well without breaking down:

Car never let me down in 26mths & more than 63,000miles.

Always starts, goes, carries heavy load of tools, stops and charges just fine.

So it’s a Very Reliable from me.

Sure, there are issues, relatively minor though they are, it’s a carwith very many systems and technologically advanced components, the crappy IT is IT which generally is crappy because IT developers were allowed to get near the car and program to the same standard other IT is with bugs, idiosyncrasies and the odd unforgivable omission referring to the e-call mis-programming In the early days.

Given the reduced amount of wear and tear from moving parts, I think this vehicle will run "foeva". I voted average due to the complexity of the electronics and the ongoing software issues.

However, by my own words in this forum, reliability should really be measured by a car's ability to get you from A to B. By that measure, the MME is likely above average. 'Cause man, when Billie is chasing you down for those two dollars you need that car to start and go!

NOTE: If you've never seen Better Off Dead, substitute Billie with zombies and forget the $2.

I did not expect balanced results. I was simply curios what people THINK.
That's all I asked for and all I expect. It's not scientific, just sheer opinion.

What is the warranty on the HVBJB issue? I’m driving a First Edition.

The software bugs are annoying, for sure, but I don’t see reliability issues there.

Biggest mechanical concerns I have are:
  1. HVBJB (specific to the Mach E, but no idea if it will bite me)
  2. AC (they almost always break eventually, but no specific concern as to the Mach E)
  3. Door opening mechanisms (I have a nagging fear that something will fail here eventually because it seems overly complicated)
All of these could be quite expensive out of warranty. No idea how likely they are.

My 21 GT had been back and forth to the dealer for this fault. I just got it back yesterday for the third time (a couple of times they either didn't have the part or "the guy" was on vacation). I'm confident it's fixed since they had it for a week but worries me that something that appears so small took so long. I really hope to keep it long. I too have purchased ext warranty.

I chose "below average" because at any time the HVBJB will possibly go out and I can only imagine how long that will take to fix.
