I’m my in the denver area and have been trying to get my glass recall completed for over 3 months. I’m on my third dealership and was just told by Groove Ford that it could be up to a year for this recall to be completed. I was told there is no glass available because apparently the glass breaks frequently when removed to apply the adhesive.

Anyone else hearing things like this?

That's some ridiculous stuff ... I tried getting my (formerly) preferred dealer to get me scheduled in for two months...

Gave up on them and tried a different dealer... Scheduled for 7 weeks later (due to service side being short-staffed, not glass repair side). They got me in when scheduled and turned it around same day.

You have a lot of dealers in Denver, keep calling around.

Your dealer is full of crap.

The removal and reinstallation of the windshield rarely breaks it, unless it was cracked already.

It's also crap that there are no windshields available.

The roof glass isn't removed, so that's a non-issue. I'd escalate this in the dealership to the Service Manager. I'd also ask how many they've completed. I waited to take mine in until my dealership had done over 30 of them.

Probably just don't want to do it.

I'm told the labor hours for prepping the recall aren't nearly sufficient for the actual work. So if they can make an excuse to send you elsewhere, they can focus on work that pays better.

All true, but the issue is, if they are this against it/inexperienced with this recall, perhaps OP should go elsewhere simply so he doesn’t end up being the guinea pig.

My windshield broke during recall. My dealership ordered a new one and 4 days later I picked the car up. Two of those days were a weekend. So “there’s no glass available,” isn’t remotely true.

That seems to be the case at least for our local Ford dealer! I asked them again about this last week. They have yet to do any glass recalls!

Dealer here in San Jose was doing 2 a week since Dec, mine was scheduled (in jan) for today. Called them last week and they cancelled the appointment as their glass company was having issues scheduling. No idea when they will be scheduling mine...

I have been trying since November last year when I got the notice and was told it would be January or February before parts would be available. Tried 2 dealers locally and no one has an idea what to do or has said waiting for clarification from Ford on how to proceed

When they did my recall they broke the glass but they got it back in stock in like 10 days the whole thing took almost 3 weeks they also broke a handle as they were finishing up the repair so I had to wait for them to get that in stock too.

BTW I forgot to mention the Ford dealer didnt do mine they outsourced it to a glass company who did this work on a F150 recall many times. So they were experinced and did a good job but the windshield did break when they removed it there is another tread in here about the recall and many had their windshield crack when it was removed.

Same, haven't done mine yet. 2 Dealerships have turned me down and the third hasn't returned my call twice. Been sitting on it a few weeks since then.

I went to inquire about this yesterday at the dealer where I bought Scotty and was told it would take a month to get back to me because their body shop was that backed up.… I can’t be without my baby for that long let alone paying for gas in a loaner/rental
