Ordinarily I would not even consider the GV60 or RZ450e at all, but the GV60 has a lower priced longer ranged variant for 2024 and Lexus is offering a $15k lease cash incentive.

2024 GV60 Standard RWD: $52k, 294 mile range, 221 hp (!!)

2023 Lexus RZ450e: $499/month, 220 mile range (looks too much like the bz4X)

Thoughts?

I paid just under $50,000 for my 2023 Premium Extended Range RWD. 311 miles of range and 290 HP.
On the plus, Genesis/Hyundai/KIA have a 800v battery, so DCFC is very fast.
Nothing about the Lexus is great. Slow charging, weak motors.

Yeah! Everything about the bz4X stinks (Lexus needs to double that lease cash) but the longer ranged GV60 is more compelling. Must be slow though with only 221 hp and under $50k would be a better deal. Glad to see Genesis is now making HDA2 standard on the GV60 (it was missing for a few years).

If you want to road trip at all, or DC fast charge at good speeds more than once a day, do not get the Lexus. I am a former bZ4X owner, and while the Lexus does have the faster charging batteries than the AWD bZ4X (in North America), even after an update to improve charging performance, Out of Spec still found only decent charging speeds on the first fast charging session, and any additional within 24 hours seemed to be diminishing. Lexus compensates by offering up to 30 days of a rental car within the first three years of ownership, if you need a distance vehicle, but Toyota corporate does not believe it to be possible to road trip a EV in the US, so designed their charging curve to be exceptionally protective of the HV battery on the assumption nobody would want to even try to road trip in their cars.

Former ’21 MME Premium owner. Traded up to a GV60 Performance two months ago. I have to say I am very impressed with the GV60P. My MME was in the shop for over fourth months total in two years. All issues were minor. The two dealers I used were absolutely horrible. Too many issues so it was time to terminate the love hate relationship with the MME. I hope the Genesis dealer experience is better. I considered the Lexus but is was not up to par with the GV60P.

Please keep us posted about your Genesis dealership experience! I've heard not so flattering reviews of their service department.

I finally test drove the RZ450e (at Austin EV expo) and it was meh. The cabin was definitely quieter than most other EVs but not at the level of the Q8 e-tron - which is like being in a coffin and the outside world disappears. The RZ acceleration was anemic even in Sport mode and while the interior deserved the Lexus name I would not pay $62K for one. The self parking was a nice gimmick they let me try in the parking lot.

I test drove a GV60P back in May when I was leasing an Ioniq 5 Limited and basically it's a nicer version of the Ioniq 5. The suspension wasn't at the level of the BMW i4 that I owned before - which is to be expected because the i4 has rear air suspension. I was able to re test drive the iX and i7 in Austin and re-confirmed my belief that air suspension is vastly better than non-air on terrible roads. Even the Lighting on the same terrible roads was unpleasant and normally the Lighting is like driving on clouds.

If I were shopping for an EV today and didn't need the most space... I'd probably lease + buyout a GV60 Advanced. I'd skip the Performance trim.

Because the Toyota B4RZQIOUN, the RZ and the Subaru Sotera are all a common platform. I have noticed that public chargers they all have absolutely God awful charge curves. I’m sitting at a public charger now waiting to charge and I looked at an RZ plugged in at 72% SOC it was sipping at 21kw. I see the Toyota and the Subaru charging all the time and quite frankly they might have a better bet above 80% on a level two charger because they drop down to level two charge speed

Genesis equivalent of blue cruise
BlueCruise? Or BlueCruise hands-free? I ask because an indicator “HDA2” would occasionally come on in the ionic 5 I recently rented, but the vehicle was definitely not equipped with any form of hands-free system and would whine at you if you let go of the steering wheel for more than about 30 seconds or a minute.

their marketing indicates it is not hands-free but has lane change assist so similar to HFBC capabilities without the HF? haha

That Lexus, overpriced BZ4X. They’re hounding me to trade my 450H for one.
