There were multiple discussions on this end of week. It seems that using the latest FDRS (updated Thursday morning) as well as adding the BlueCruise maps (22P08) is essential. If that doesn't work, doing a PMI on the Gateway module and then on the APIM. Performing 2 hard resets from the FDRS main menu to reset Sync, then resetting the APIM.

That's my "I'm not an FDRS expert or a software developer" take on it.
Might also help to sacrifice some farm animals.....

I don't think that type of warning is a problem as they update certain modules.

My driver's door opened yesterday at 3:25PM, and this morning at 10:20AM. Wonder what they were doing from 8AM to 10:20AM?

In my opinion the time has come to not kick the can down the road any longer.
They, (dealers) are working on customers vehicles and customers want what they were promised. Since Ford has offered the BC update to be done in their dealers and released all the instructions, the excuses are mute at this point. Also I believe that Ford indicated to the dealers how much they will be compensated for this update. If it is done according to the protocol and updates are successful, certain payment will be received. The failures, delays and unsuccessful tries are costing $$ to the dealers. That is an argument between them and Ford. Not doing the updates is not the answer. Customers need their vehicles working properly. Sorry that some of you are been caught in the middle of this incompetence.

I am in that group. Dealer updates attempted but some modules in the vehicle would not take the programming. In my case I signed a waiver saying that I understand the car does NOT have the BlueCruise software even though the hardware exists so Ford doesn't owe me anything. No promises were made either. It was implied that I could PURCHASE Blue Cruise at a later date which I have no intention of doing. I suppose if I wanted to purchase it then I would have a problem and it sounds like that is where much of the frustration originates. Apparently there are lots of folks that want this feature because they intend on purchasing the service.

It probably isn't reasonable to get angry if Ford is having trouble giving customers a FREE trial version of the software (in my opinion...)

On the bright side, prior to the attempted 21G01 update.....my car would throw 8 to 12 DTCs at every start up. Now it only throw 2 or 3. That is progress IMO. Perhaps the multiple DTCs is the reason why these updates don't always install? (just guessing on that last part though....)

The new FDRS version should be used, it solved at least one of the common problems, including those who could not progress from Ver. 358 to Ver. 364 because GWM was not showing up in SW Updates to be able to continue the last steps of the process. Performing 2 hard APIM resets in FDRS is the last step for everyone, and must be done.

No part of the update process involves any PMI operations.

Correct on the PMI, but that was specified by several as possible ways to get a stuck process to complete.

What about those of us stuck on 244 after this update? Any ideas there?

The new FDRS should resolve that issue.

The car I was updating was stuck on 244. After updating to the newest FDRS, I did a PMI operation on the GWM, TCU, which allowed the IPC to finally update successfully, which then allowed the new APIM update to pop in, and then the next GWM update, and then the final APIM update.

This car is still missing lane centering and BC won't activate because of that. Going to try a PMI on the CCM and CMR next time I have access to that car.

Man. All these reports of people succeeding with the FDRS update makes me want to try again. When I used the latest FDRS last time, I still had no new updates even after trying the PMI on the GWM. Sounds like you took it even further with TCU, etc?

This sounds similar to @mpshizzle's issues, he has persistent CMR codes.

Keeping a log of all the software versions once BlueCruise works might be useful for determining what modules need attention in cars that aren't updating.

My dealership successfully unstuck my APIM from attempting 1.7.1 update in December and applied 21G01. It took them two and a half days. They performed at least three hard resets on my vehicle. The last two were after they took it for a test drive and it wasn't all functional. After checking FDRS again the car needed more updates. Everything is all functional now. Just sucks having to reconnect everything.

Hi @benk016

I'm glad the new FDRS is solving the APIM issue. My dealer had managed to get me up to Sync 364, so my APIM updated. All of my ACC and LC are working fine, LC with Hands-Free is turned on, I have the October expiration date for my maps, and I get the BlueCruise "box" on the screen. However, I still haven't received BlueCruise in Connected Services and the people at FordPass tell me I have to take it back to my dealer.

I really don't want to waste the dealer's time or mine if the dealer won't be able to fix it. Do you think the dealer will be able to fix it now? Is there something they'll be able to do to get the FordPass initiation moving?
