I don't mind purchasing one. I don't have any Ford Points but $380 is fine. My dealer just doesn't know how to do it as if yet. I have until December though to get everything worked out
$380 is fine for a key? You can get one online for much cheaper and have it programmed. Mine was a total of $205 for the key and programming. After you have two working fobs, you can program a third yourself. There are a bunch of threads about extra fobs and programming.

My understanding is if you remove PaaK, for instance if you got a second fob, then it also removes your ability to start the car with a password as a backup, because it's linked to PaaK. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Yes, it does.

Free Key Fob from Ford
Ford authorized second Programmed Key Fob for me and reimbursed the dealer for his cost. I just picked it up. At the time of the approval the Ford Representative acknowledged they had handled the Key Fob/PAAK poorly and he said they would be providing two Fobs with future Mach E deliveries. We did not talk about how all single key cases would be handled, but I would bring this up with Ford if I wanted a second Fob. (I do not recommend talking to Ford Customer Relations, they were completely unhelpful to me.)
Who did you talk to about getting a second fob? I spoke to my dealer about a second fob and the PAAK issues my wife and I have been having where they key doesn’t work and then gets completely deleted from the app somehow by Ford. The dealer said they didn’t know about 2nd keys for the Mach-e but estimate it would cost $600 as that is what keys cost for other models. After talking with their service amd parts department I was directed by them to contact @Ford Motor Company customer service to get information about the key and the issue. Unfortunately Ford customer service were absolutely terrible and completely unhelpful. After explaining my situation and asking if they can can help, they told me that Ford sells to the cars to the dealer and after that it’s basically out of their hands.
They said that’s that I need to talk to the dealer as they don’t deal with these issues and if I need to go back to the dealership. I asked them if they could do anything to help as I am getting pushed around in circles and they basically forward my call to another dealership and left it at that.
I spoke to this dealership and they said they don’t know anything about second keys for the Mach-e unless I pay $600 for one.

I’m a first time Ford customer and it’s been a frustrating experience and far below the level of service I experienced from other brands who’s cars I have purchased. After reading other people’s experiences here, I don't understand why there is so much variance in how the situation is handled by Ford or how the price of a standard Ford part can be so different.
Some people don’t pay anything, others pay $50-$100 and then people like myself get have to pay $600 for something that should come standard with the car that cost $80k. Especially if the PAAK option doesn’t work. This isn’t a great way to treat a first time or returning customer and even though I love my Mach-e, the service experience makes me not want to buy another Ford any time soon.

You've found this forum, which is a great resource. You don't have to pay $600 for a fob. There are other places to get them where you can pay much less.

It would be nice if Ford started including a second key fob or added it as an option when ordering. A price up to $650 is fine with me if it came ready to go with the car. I'm fine with spending more money to avoid the hassle of a multi step process I'm at a point where my time and preventing frustration is worth more than a few dollars.

Check out this thread.
Great instructions, and I added a clarification that had kept me from programming successfully.
Thanks for the link to the instructions. Unfortunately the car defeated me. It looked like it was going to work but I never got a programming complete message. Eventually it informed me that there were no more slots available for programming. Just in case I checked the transmit frequency for the fob and it matched my other fobs. I have no idea what ended up in the two slots that were available when I started but it apparently wasn't the ID of the fob.

My attempt to get a free Fob started in March. Essentially I refused to take no for an answer; I insisted that either the Dealer or Ford fix the problem. It took the Ford Regional Office and the COO of Auto Group that owns that dealership fixed my problem.

Before that I talked with people at the Dealership, up to and including the GM. They said it wasn't their issue, talk to Ford. They were unwilling to spend money to fix some thing they didn't cause. I also spoke with Ford Customer Relations who said talk to the Dealership. Both recommended that I simply buy a Key Fob and have it programmed. I refused to do that. After weeks of back and forth on this, I asked the Dealer for a point of contact at his Regional Ford Management Office. Things started to improve when I contacted the Regional Office. I gave the Ford Rep a run down of the problem and filled him in on my expectation; an additional free Fob is the solution. He promised to look into my problem. A little later I also took my issue to the Auto Group COO. He promised to look into the problem too. The COO called me a day or so later to let me know that a solution was in the works. A few weeks after that the Ford Rep from the Regional Office informed me that Ford would be providing me free a key. He also told me that two keys would be provided in the future.

I went the route of buying one for $73 and getting them to program it for free. Nothing beats free but my time and patience was worth me spending the funds vs having to beg Ford to do the right thing. So if you get one prior to pickup and make it part of the deal that they will program it. It literly takes them 15 minutes to get it done.

Guys, read the forums or even the previous responses. You should not need to pay much for your FOBs and they will program without issues. I would avoid trying to get anything free from a dealership because, well, they're dealerships and operate by making money. There are links and comments of people confirming what works as well as the posted instructions to program a third.

I recommend buying a third FOB, cheap version, and just having it to keep the ability to program a new one yourself if you lose/break one of the two main ones. $30 FOB saves you a dealership or locksmith visit.
