Nothing to do with our Mach-Es or the current conversation, but I wanted to hop on and give a thumbs up to Serramonte Ford up in Colma. I bought two vehicles from there in the 1990's, driving up from my former home in San Jose because they had exactly what I wanted and at a no-hassle price.

Welcome and thanks for your honesty on this forum!

No, Ford will kick back the contract if the terms aren't correct. Which is why he sent you an updated one.

Thank you very much. I meant specifically, in the a correct Options lease, is the residual % / amount dynamic to the dealer, or entirely fixed by Ford central? (Given the obstacle course they put me through I don't trust a thing I hear directly.)

First, good on you for starting this thread and being willing to act as a bit of a pin cushion. We are all excited for our Mach-E's so there might be some frustration. But this kind of interaction is very much appreciated.

Here are my two questions, if you don't mind...

1. I didn't pay a deposit. I have a signed Bill of Sale (at MSRP plus the taxes etc.), a print-out of the submitted order, and got the email from Ford acknowledging the order the day after it was placed. But I placed the order through the dealer and they never asked for a deposit. I even asked my sales guy if he needed one, and he said no. I *suspect* this is because he knows the car would sell lickety split anyway if I didn't buy it. But is it a little strange to not take a deposit? This dealer (Bredemann Ford in Glenview, IL) seems to have a high end reputation here and elsewhere so I am inclined not to worry, but thought I'd ask.

2. Speaking of ordering through the dealer, the order code I have is their 4-character one, as opposed to the 8-character version people got when they ordered online. Not having the full 8-digit code means I cannot look up my car's status online. I have to either contact my dealer, or chat online with Ford. This seems like a bizarre system that only creates more work for both the customer AND Ford AND the dealers. Are you aware of some way to integrate these things? Or if there is in fact the 8-digit code on dealer orders that I can ask for, so I don't have to keep pestering the dealer?

Thanks!

@Gloff My Mach-e has been stuck in my local railyard for a month with a dead battery. I'm desperate to get some kind of an update or an ETA or something. I've tried to work with my dealer and Ford directly. My dealer can't seem to get any traction and Ford thinks the car has been delivered so they're absolutely no help. Do you have any suggestions for another resource I could try? Is there a specific department at Ford I should be trying to contact? Thanks so much!
Have the dealer reach out to the port supervisor, and their zone rep. We had an issue like this before where the car shows as delivered, but it's not at the store. Ford has procedures for dead batteries at the port, but if they think it's at the dealer, the Rep should get in touch with the port Super.

It's a fixed residual set by Ford Credit. AFAIK, it's nationwide as well.

I believe that @hybrid2bev can help you out with an answer. He's the forum's resident expert on the Ford Options Financing program (it is not a lease). 😊🐩

@jcdjcd Ford Options is not a lease.

@Gloff is correct. If the figures are wrong then Ford Credit would bounce the contract back to the dealer. The residual is national and set by Ford Credit the dealer has no discretion on the residual percentages.

@hybrid2bev I am sorry, my mistake. And thank you @Gloff. Honestly a car lease is like Bitcoin to me. I constantly learn, then immediately forget, how it works.

So it sounds like individual dealers can't pull any changes with Options. I dunno what other levers there are besides APR. (My balloon payment seemed high to me but, again, I have no clue what I am talking about: $0 down, $55,500 financed, 2.70 APR. 35 payments at $912 and balloon of $26,900.)

Yeah, the rate and residual are fixed, the only lever we have is selling price, and we all know the current market on that. That payment looks about right for a 36 mo. options. I don't know what trim you have, but assuming a Rte 1 with a residual of 47%, its actually a bit on the low side.

Edit: I see you have Premium EX RWD, MSRP should be $57,235 before PP. Based on your above parameters, your Residual should be 47% (if you did 10,500 miles) Selling price of $55,235 after PP. Your sales tax must be really low where you live. Using 7.25% sales tax I'm coming up with a payment at $930 with tax/title/license. That's also assuming you got the Clean Fuel, MY Satisfaction Rebate, and the protected $2500 options rebate.

I know you have probably been asked this question, but I couldn't find an answer here. Are interest rates considered part of incentives and protected with price protection? When I ordered my Mach E on 12/1/21 I noticed that Ford was offering 2.49% for up to 84 months. Will I be able to get this rate? If not I need to start looking for a good car loan!

They used to be, but I don't know if they still are. If you PM me your VIN and zip code I can check for you.

@Gloff I have a Select AWD w/ comfort package on order that is supposed to arrive at the dealer soon. Do you know what is the Ford Options residual on 48 month / 10.5k miles? I can't seem to find this information anywhere!

We'd prefer not to have to wait either, which is why we're petitioning Ford to change the price protection process. It's a pain in the ass for my controller and it screws with our bookkeeping since there's a lag on the money.
I understand the benefits, of lowering the price upfront, for the customer ie no waiting for a check, no need to finance a higher amount, and lower price for xplan. i also understand the Dealer would prefer not to wait. My question is, could there be another reason/benefit for the dealer to lower the price upfront?

For us, it's easier accounting as there's no floating money. We get the money from Ford, then immediately cut it back to the customer.
