You need to turn on journey recording in settings in the FordPass app
Thanks Graham - I had that turned on but still wasn't working. Turned out that I had to disable Apple Carplay to get journey recoding working again (as soon as I disabled Carplay I started getting the journey notifications again but judging by the 'scores' I'm getting for my acceleration I might turn it back off again ;-) )

Hi all

Just a quick observation on my first usage of the FordPass Charge Card ?

Seamless, quick and very efficient ??

I guess a number of you have already used the public charging network, but after nearly a 1,000 miles I have been fine with home charging. But I thought it was about time I ventured out into the world of pubic chargers ?

We have a BP Pulse charger quite close, which is rated 50Kwh and has DC and Chademo, with a 44Kwh AC Type 2. I think it's been there a couple of years or so.

Initially I tried the Type 2 connection as the speeds were similar and so I thought I'd avoid the DC to help the battery:
  • My FordPass Charge Card was validated first time by the charger, the car checked, and charging commenced almost straight away
  • Silly me though - I had forgotten that the car itself only takes AC charging at upto 11Kwh (I think that's the case, if someone could confirm) so it worked fine but was (relatively) slow
  • So I ended the session, and switched to the DC charger
The DC "Fast" Charger likewise validated the card and did the necessary checks between the charger and the car very quickly, and charging commenced. I let it go from 40% to 80% and then stopped the session. The car was on charge for just over an hour.

It added about 35Kwh in that time, so didn't achieve 50Kwh, but 35 Kwh seemed fine.

I had two message in my FordPass Message Centre confirming the cost of both the sessions. The DC session cost just under £7 for 35Kwh - easy maths, is ~20p/kwh !

Finally, I subsequently added the DC charger in the FordPass App, and set the Preferred Charge Level to 80%.

So, all in all, very straighforward and successful ...... at least on this occasion ??

Cheers
David

I told you I'm rubbish at DIY! I had another attempt today at fitting my charger door protector thingy, and eventually it slotted in. "Yes!!!" I thought, "I'm nearly there!" but then the bottom clip broke off. "Oh well, maybe the top one will be enough to hold it?" That snaps off too! Then I had to try to remove what was left and that was a job and a half as well! Eventually got it out, and had a brainwave for a temporary solution :

The piece that's left slots very nicely between the bodywork and the edge of the charger door, so if anyone does knock into it and force it too far, it should prevent a dent!!!

Glad it went well! Yes, max charge you can get from the AC connections is 11kW, as you found (that's limited by the Mach E). The rapid chargers don't always seem to max out at their advertised speeds (charger's fault rather than the car's), so that's probably why you only got 35kW speeds. It's probably a limit caused by the charger's power supply. I have a similar BP unit near me, and the DC connectors only give out 11kW at the moment!

Hi @BlackheathDiggs

Thanks for that - I did wonder why I was getting 35Kw rather than 50Kw ? I'm sorry you're only getting 11Kw ?

My car finally goes in tomorrow for it's accessories ? Mud-flaps to be fitted (do you have those?), and the boot liner and "premium mats" have at last materialised!

Also getting the rear brakes/parking brake checked - I had a problem a couple of days after I picked the car up with these binding ... probably due to using OPD. The rear disks have some light "scoring" from that, but seem to have been fine since then and am now at about 1,000 miles in 7 weeks! The car is great ?

Hope all is good with you
David

PS: only thing I miss from the Outlander PHEV is the cavernous boot!

Good news: After 6 weeks of having my car my rubber floor mats have arrived! Picked them up from the dealer this afternoon.

It also appears that they had received the negative feedback that I gave them in Ford’s recent survey!?

She apologised that it was her first MME. The feedback that I gave was the failure to call back and just the downright lies. Which as far as I can see has nothing to do with being the first MME.

I was offered a free service if I gave 5 star feedback to another survey that they were going to send me!

Apparently it affects they’re wages. Got to love Evans Halshaw!?

When I picked up my car (3 weeks ago tomorrow) I was told I'd receive a survey but I haven't yet - how long after collecting your car did you receive your survey?

Remember seeing this posted on the forum a while back. Just checked ours and what do you know… PSA to anyone who’s taken delivery of their car/is about to collect. Please check asap and try and remove them or get Ford to do it. Totally unacceptable by Ford and the dealers… anyone who did remove them think of a good way of doing it? They seem pretty wedged in

Me too. Just cam across mine yesterday after a month. Waiting to here back from my dealer to see why this wasn’t checked in the PDI?

How did you manage to remove them? Mine seem very wedged in and am not keen on sticking my fingers into the springs if they’re not sitting properly. Got a 250 mile journey home tomorrow so could do with removing them asap
