I'm new to EVs and am looking forward to ordering a 2023 MME (AWD Premium) as soon as pre-orders open. I'll be honest in that I'm considering some others (Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer or Equinox) - I prefer the MME but my husband isn't quite as sold (ultimately it'll be my decision). So, I thought that it would be nice to hear from someone other then the dealer one or two things that you love about the MME and one or two things that you dislike about it.
Love the car.
Hate the software.

I love how it looks, I hate that it hasn't been delivered yet and that it's been stuck in Mo for over a month :(

Like:. It is NOT a Tesla.
Hate: it rides like crap with skinny tires.

On early list for Lyric and Blazer for same Like and to improve the Hate....

cons:
1. 800V battery architecture - common, if Hyundai can do it for Ioniq 5 Ford can do it for MME
2. Bi-directional charging

pros: I had couple MMEs and like GT the most. technically only charging speed forced me to sell one of my GTs and buy Ioniq 5. it was painful to lost 35-45 minutes at charging station during travel with kids.

MMEv GT Performance:

Love the driving experience and acceleration.
Hate the 5 second power limiter.
Love the range.
Hate the extra strong brake grabbing when slowing to a stop, so bad that the car rocks back and forth.
Love the automatic cruise control during stop and go traffic situations.
Hate that Blue Cruise has an extreme, hug to the right of the lane, centering bias.

I have a 22 ER RWD Ice blue
Likes:
Styling. I get asked about the car all the time. ( love the color)
Interior is very nice ( not cheap looking)
I love the big screen.
1PD is awesome.
BC is ok. Hugs the right side. I only feel comfortable using it if I’m in the far right lane.
Wireless CarPlay. I don’t have the problem with phone getting hot on charging pad. Gets warm but not hot.
Paak as worked great for me from day one. Never failed so far.
I like the Frunk for take out, that’s about the extent of my use for it.
Love, love the pony puddle lights. Wish it would present itself more often.
I have the Frunk button on my FordPass app and on the car screen.
Acceleration is fun.
Waking up to a “full tank” is a good fe
Love the glass roof, even if I as the driver, don’t really get to enjoy it. Never feels uncomfortable for me, I forget it is there.
Every time I walk up to my car, I smile. Can’t say that with past cars. This one is special.

Dislikes:
I wish GOM was… well less of a guess?
I wish I had a hard button for the trunk. I miss that feature.
Skinny tires are not my fave. I will replace with wider tires once I use up the life of current tires.
Ride can be bumpy, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s sporty not luxury.
Maybe my wig is too tight but people asking to look or sit inside my car makes me a little anxious?

Love
  • Instantly fast and buttery smooth acceleration.
  • Alexa. Well integrated. Very reliable. Better than Amazon Auto.
  • Apple Car Play
  • The frunk. Use it as much or more than the trunk. Lack there of, would be a deal breaker in a future EV consideration.
  • The curb appeal.

Hate
  • No physical rear hatch release.
  • Removal of the kick-to-open rear hatch. This counts as -2pts.
  • Glitches with Phone as a Key.
  • Wireless Apple Car play dropping out randomly.

I find the system very usable. Hint: voice commands. Most people (particularly reviewers who whine about the lack of hard button controls) don’t seem to have caught on to this technology that has “existed” since 1960s Star Trek ?
Can you voice command the lift gate? I tried it once and nothing happened. Maybe used the wrong command?

Please elaborate.

When we first got our car, I told my wife the power liftgate can be opened with the button, a kick or voice command. I programmed it to open with the command "Open Sesame!" and asked her to try it out. I stood behind her with my hand operating the fob in my pocket. I got her to use the voice command twice before she caught on. (I couldn't keep a straight face that second time....)

Is it just the range that gets affected by winter or does the time to charge as well? I live just outside Boston so am a little concerned. We also don't have a driveway and I'm not sure what impact that may have on charging.
Hello from NH. I see you have an NX. I traded in mone for the MME. I had 16 NX F-sport

Ford MMe premium order. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Lrd

I love the EV that I bought while waiting for my MME order to be scheduled. (Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ltd).
I hate that Ford took 32 weeks to even schedule my prem AWD ER order. And then it was scheduled to be assembled two months after the date it was scheduled, and delivery ETA would be 11 months after ordering. That's right... I still don't have an MME. I feel cheated that scads of Selects and GTs ordered months after my premium order have been delivered before my order is even built.

You don't have to pay over $4/gallon (sometimes closer to $5). Plug it in at home.
The torque off the line is incredible! It throws you back in your seat.
I like the audio system and it sounds great to me (could use a little more bass though)
I like the various Mustang queues (Ponies, rear taillights, rear haunches, puddle lights)

Dislikes
First model year blues - OTA update problems, HVJB contactor issues, 12 volt battery issues
Suspension - bouncy ride
As with all EV vehicles with batteries loss of range in cold weather. I didn't know this when I bought it
The windshield and roof recalls. Should not have happened as Ford has made cars for a LONG time

Overall I am happy I bought it with the exception of Ford's handling of the HVJB contactor issue. I feel like I'm driving a possible time bomb that could strand me. Worse yet, I worry about my wife getting stranded. I personally feel that Ford should do the right thing and systematically replace the faulty contacts with new ones that can handle the electrical loads put on them by the car.

I'm an early adopter and have to accept problems with the car but you would be buying a newer version with most of these problems corrected.

Like:
  • Performance oriented GT components
  • Modern & Sporty Styling
  • Storage Space
  • All Electric
  • Amazing All Wheel Drive
  • Fits my 100 lbs. dog in the trunk
  • Quiet
  • Fun to drive (for a crossover)
  • Great 0-60 time
  • Respectable quarter mile time
  • Great adaptive cruise control
  • Great sounds system
  • Quiet
  • Not a tesla.
  • Build quality so much better than tesla
  • All glass moonroof is gorgeous. Rear passengers will swoon.
  • Walk away auto lock
  • Secure park. You can leave the car "ON", lock the doors and walk away. The car will not go into drive until the key is in range. This is great if you want to leave a dog or spouse in the car with climate control on.

Hate:
  • The 5 second full power limiter
  • This car should be 0.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile
  • Bouncy suspension
  • Not that great seating positions
  • Steering wheel doesn't tilt all the way down. It's impossible to get the steering rack parallel with the floor
  • Steering wheel doesn't telescope out very far.
  • No rear trunk button
  • Lack of a decent blue or green color option
  • No tow hooks from rear
  • Difficult to get to 12v battery
  • Software is buggy and slow
  • The aftermarket has been slow to release products for this vehicle
  • Low top speed and subpar passing speeds for a performance marketed vehicle
  • Paint scratches easily
  • Range is cut in half during Minnesota winters due to the heater
  • Doors are too large. The opening is too low so it's easy to scrape the bottom of the door against a tall curb in the or against uneven terrain when parked.
