I'd think use the heated seats and keep the thermostat set low to maximize battery. It's not a situation I'd want to be in however.

As others have indicated, I don't think it would be very different of an experience than any ICE vehicles around you would have. Invariably someone in front of you will run out of gas and you'll all be stuck!

I’ve been wondering what people with electric cars would do if they were stuck in that now 20 hour mess in DC. It’s not like you can just idle your engine for warmth. Anyone have thoughts?
I'd rather be stuck in an MME than any ICE car.
e-heat would keep the cabin toasty for probably 30+ hours if you had a reasonably full charge going in....

How did you figure that? I thought the heater drew 5 Kw?
I don't know what the max draw of e-heater is.... but to maintain cabin temp, it certainly is not running full blast all the time. More likely averaging less than 2kw depending on outside ambient temp.

Just read an opinion at the Washington Post claiming everything would have so much worse with EVs. The opinion seemed pretty suspect. Basically his analysis was based on one trucker saying that the owner of a Tesla asked for a blanket in case he ran out of power. Of course the same guy states that plenty of ICE vehicles ran out of gas. Figured it was worth knowing since I’ve been using my mme for ski trips. Glad I came here to answer the question how long will my mme last.

I had this very discussion with a friend who doesn't like or understand BEV vehicles and told him the same thing everyone is saying that you would do what you can to stay warm and conserve energy by only heating intermittently, etc. And I told him once the battery was totally exhausted it would be the same as running out of gas in an ICE car. One big difference nobody is mentioning, however, is how the efficiency of the battery decreases in cold weather so it probably wouldn't last as long as some are saying.

Another is that, if you do kill the battery completely, getting a generator brought to you is way harder than getting a gas can brought to you.

My recent experience would suggest at least 50 hours at 25F outdoor temps (sitting in line for 3 hours only burning 6% with HVAC set to 72F).

ER battery.

The rule of thumb is a single candle can keep a car space well above freezing. And it’s easier to stay warm in still air as opposed to breezy. That candle produces about 100 watts, about the same as a human. When I drove my ā€˜62 bug to school n winter I’d pick up 3 friends just to warm up the car.

but a down sleeping bag, thick wool blanket, warm cap, gloves, etc… can make a huge difference.

I don’t have personal experience at this. I also have a standard range battery so it wouldn’t last as long as the extended range. All I do know is that the range has decreased from 210 miles (I have AWD std range) to around 170 miles at 100% so I figure the battery wouldn’t last that long sitting in the cold.
