This may have been mentioned here but while we think Safelite will do the windshields for us, do we think they also do the roofs? Or will that (unfortunately) have to be done by a Ford service center?
There is no panoramic roof removal involved in that recall.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V712000

Manufacturer Ford Motor Company

Components VISIBILITY

Potential Number of Units Affected 13,544

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. The vehicle's panoramic roof glass panel may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, which could allow it to detach.
Remedy
Dealers will apply additional urethane adhesive, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S42.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2021/...ord's number for this recall is 21S42.,-Notes

Compare the remedy above to the Windshield recall remedy:

Remedy

Dealers will remove and reinstall the windshield, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21C22.
https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2021/FORD/MUSTANG%2520MACH-E/SUV/AWD#:~:text=Remedy,recall is 21C22.

Also note the differences in numbers. Not every car with a windshield recall will be subject to the panoramic roof recall.

I hope that is a mistake. Urethane is not structural, as far as I am concerned. I would think they would use silicone, which has tremendous adhesion to glass and compatible or properly prepped surfaces.

Has anyone heard anything about these fixes resolving the wind noise at the junction of the windshield and the panoramic roof?

Based on the information heard, the Recall would be for vehicles built until July 18, 2021. In my case, the production date was July 9 and then it was waiting for Chip until September 20, which marked it as built. and shipped on the 21st. I wonder if the almost two and a half months that the vehicle was waiting to complete its construction, Ford took advantage of the time to correct the glass. They had enough time.

Come back in early November perhaps? No telling really. If it does resolve the issue, it’s a win-win I think. And explains a bit.

The end date is June 18th, not July. So you should be in the clear.

Urethane adhesive has been the industry standard for windshield installation for decades.

Really. Well there you go. Though it is also held mechanically typically. Surprising though. Ain’t going no where if it’s silicones in.

thanks for the correction.

Doubt that silicone has more bond strength than a urethane adhesive. Silicone is too “elastic”. My experience says otherwise.

Hi there, Jim! Are you experiencing this concern with your Mustang Mach-E? If so, can you send us a DM with more information so I can look into this for you on my end?

I have the same problem with wind noise at the seam between the windshield and the glass roof. The glass roof protrudes about 3/8" higher which leads to wind noise and also risk of cracking if a stone hits the top edge. My other cars have a gasket the covers the seam between windshield and roof preventing wind noise and ice build up that could lead to future leaks. I reported this to the Ford dealer and to Ford Canada back in April 2021. My car is a MME FE. I attached an image of my glass windshield and roof seam.

Just to be 100% sure, if my car just got built (September) it won't be impacted by this issue because Ford already is aware of it...and have addressed the production process? I guess that is a bright side to my order from May taking 4+ months :)
