My premium 4x failed while driving at 13k miles.

To be fair, it seems like the problems are with the GTs specifically. 5000 miles into my 4X premium, and I've had zero software/engineering bugs.

Well, I was going back to the #1 lane and letting BlueCruise get back up to speed when this happened, I think I touched the throttle somewhat but definitely not to the floor at all.

When it happened I got the "service vehicle soon" wrench. Power was very limited, but again as i was going downhill, it wasn't as noticible to me until after I got on the exit ramp. We guestimate you have about 30% of the normal power, instantly, completely without any other warning.

Here's GoPro footage of the failure (reposting again):
I noticed the Humpty Dumpty song foreshadowed the crisis, perhaps in the future that music should play aloud in any Mach-E whenever something is about to go very wrong.

Completely understand your frustrations.

A MME with the new part has got to be worth more right? That's glass half full ?

Lost opportunity to screw this up for someone that would have been a true evangelist for the vehicle.

I’m looking at other EVs. This isn’t acceptable to me. Also let’s think about this new part.
Do we think they’ve put more engineering rigor and quality in developing and testing it? Have they changed their testing since they shipped our cars with the original part? Do you think they’ve changed anything in testing since modeling the software that was supposed to protect and fix the issue?

There are very few cars with the new part in the real world and I'm now going to be their tester to see if this new part has basic reliability.

I'm at the stage now that I don't trust the engineering in the car or Ford in standing behind it.

But you prioritize them by the odds of that model having the issue. So you start with GTs, then do Premium AWDs, etc. Ford has all the data to arrange this.
Yes that’s likely. But no matter how you prioritize you still have to get through them all and it will take a long time.

The recall was picked up in the mainstream media. This failure that @scoopman encountered just happened before a holiday weekend.

I think it could become as significant of a story as the GM recall if it's conveyed that the recall "fix" that was promised doesn't actually fix the problem. It will become, "well, they tried to fix it in software but now they have to replace the part." That's not a complete disaster for Ford if they resolve it quickly.

But it's really easy for the media to relay that "the fix they promised didn't fix the problem."
Let me correct something here. The "fix" was never intended to solve the problem, just give warning and make the failure a little less sudden. It doesn't address the inadequate part, but rather gives Ford the appearance of a proactive action.

Now the question is who knew this was a failure waiting to happen and when did they know it. Mark my words, this was known and covered up which means for a public company their SEC reporting has been false and is hiding a known liability. The lawsuits will be on a number of grounds, this being one of them. Let's start a pool for who loses their job over this. I'm in for the guy in the UK who is responsible for the BEV's. I'll guess that it touches Farley eventually too.

I have no idea ..... but same company and engineering processes that brought you the original part and the software.
Been following this thread closely while I wait for my GTPE that was built this week….
We used to live in SE Michigan, and this brings to mind a story that a friend told me. He worked for a SE Michigan firm that supplied parts to Ford. The story went like this. They had uncovered that a part they were supplying had a design flaw that would cause it to fail after somewhere between 20-30K miles. They went to Ford and told them about their finding and that they had a redesign that would add a minor amount to the cost of the part. Ford’s response? Don’t bother with the new design, we’ll just take the hit on the few that fail.
Now, that was 12 years ago, and I understand the Mach E design was pretty firewalled off from the rest of the company, but this business with the car makes me wonder how much has really changed.

It's supposed to be well above what's spec'd and much "beefier".
Interesting. Do you know how long it would take to produce this new part and distribute it?

Thanks

They are already producing them. The inadequate ones are no longer available.

Same here. I’m now approaching 23k miles. I’m thinking I’m gonna get the extended warranty. I’m already having trim fall off. I’m not happy about that.
