Complete fail is a bit dramatic. I know you are frustrated. But many vehicles have been update successfully OTA to BC and various recall updates. It has not been as smooth, of course.
There is a thread where people are stuck on 1.7.1 for close to a year. Ford has done nothing other than almost abandoning them while pushing BC for a few lucky others or putting the entire team on fixing hardware with software. That I find is just down right ignorant and all should have been fixed and operational before going on to something else or giving people something others do not for a year. There is still people not fixed. This is a complete fail and engineers are not dramatic we deal with logic and facts. Install fixes for some and abandoning others is hard to get all hyped on or say it is a success and OK.

Yeah, and to compound on that, apparently now they jump ship and change platforms completely for 2023 models? Like seriously WTF. Stick with a platform and work the bugs out ffs. Barely can handle the sync4 system they already have. Now they want yet another system with android to maintain? I am sure that is going to go extremely well.

Wish I could be a fly on the wall on who these people are making these decisions.
Where did you see they are changing platforms for 2023?

Hasn’t a fix been out for quite a while for those stuck…?

Yes.
Several of those less fortunate have reported their dealer techs endeavored to persevere but failed to deliver the goods. And subsequently the service manager expressed sympathy and 1) blamed Ford, 2) said the software from Ford was corrupt, 3) said they had to special order the adapters from Amazon, 4) said the fix was in the works and would be delivered as an OTA in Q4 of 23.

This is just after explaining to the customer why a whole week had gone by without contacting Ford Engineering for support.

Ah. Then I may need to find a different EV brand for my next EV. Android is not a stable platform.
Rivian is a great option! And not just because I have a ton of Rivian stock, of course ;)

Things don’t just immediately happen when a new lead gets hired. I’m sure he’s working more on the new updates coming for everyone for the UX and managing the Android transition.
I generally get the impression people that high up in the food chain set the vision and delegate to people that actually build the plan. A large corp is a massive cruise ship not a speed bike, takes a while todo anything right and usually by the time they do the rest of the industry not tied to legacy junk is already at the finish line looking at the next big thing. One of these guys are useless without hiring on new or reassigning old some 50 high IQ high performers with many years of experience that are implementing the vision he sets. Musk isn't even Musk for example.

This recall is another "cluster f**k" from Ford. The information is misleading, the support people handling the call centers do not have proper information. i.e. the guy I spoke with had no system capability to check and see what updates may or may not have been done, he was clueless.
The first person that picks up the phone is not an engineer or software dev or really anyone that isn't going to know something unless someone wrote it down for them to recite when the question comes up. The # of days the logs go back are probably just the UI/tool they use. Archiving of those logs off the query system might be done to improve performance with more current relevant data. This software could kill someone someday in a worst case scenario, trust me they can figure it out if you had a team of lawyers asking them to dig it up...engineers and software devs are better paid fixing problems not answering questions of every customer wound up by an internet forum. Now however if you were to say decide to buy 10k ford MMEs for a rental service or something and were reconsidering because of poor customer service...you'll have a a dedicated engineer answering your questions the next day.

I'm not really worried about it. If software is causing problems you slow down releases not speed them up. Software updates regardless if it's pushing or pulling them is hardly a new concept. I seriously doubt we're in some Ford OTA purgatory...just someone didn't write it down to recite to you when you called in....or maybe we are who knows.

Have any GT's actually received the new OTA?
I think mine just did hours ago. I see an update listed in my Fordpass app as having been completed today. But it lacks details. I think I have to go look in the car at the details. Gonna check and edit this post.

Edit: Welp, it was 2.8.2. I'm shocked I didn't have this yet and this week it decides to OTA? The hell is going on.

Here

It is fine I am still on 1.7.1 as it would be difficult discussing anything further on the forum knowing where other members are at. Thinking may be a hiccup in OTA and a bit gun shy jumping back in? They need to fix these guys before we all move on.

I am hoping it is not hardware with another software fix. Fix is to stop updating my modules OTA ;). I could care less about the interface. Thinking they almost have it and it is a whole lot smoother than it was at the beginning (not hard). Would love to know what a completely updated MME is like. Tap tap tap.

I guess we need to buy a fleet of 10K MME to be noticed? Never say anything nothing changes.

Shayne, are you saying you're car is stuck on Sync version 1.7.1?

I kinda monitor that "stuck on 1.7.1" thread and haven't seen you post there was why I'm asking. If you'd like me to look up your VIN and tell you what modules need updating I can do that. At least you'd know what needs to be done.

Apparently they are catching the Job 2s up to the Job 1s. We should get 2.8.2, then 2.8.3, based on what has been reported by others who are ahead of us.
