You can get the frunk release to work from the door keypad if you can flash the latest updates to the BCM and GFM modules with FDRS. The button in the display can be enabled with a change in FORScan, documented here. Still nothing in the app though...
Yeah, the button in the FP app is server side. Writing a few lines of code to check the car’s BCM and GFM software level at login is so hard. ??

Updated Phone as a Key setup to reduce intermittent failures.

Confirmed; my failures are no longer intermittent. Now the PAAK notification shows connected, but the phone no longer works as a key in any capacity.

Not just you.

Jesus Ford, it's 2022 for Pete's sake. Is it really so hard to make an app that works? I've said it a thousand times: outsource your software development to, oh, I don't know, a software company?!
Be careful what you ask for! Companies most often outsource to improve cost, often at the expense of quality.

Honestly the FordPass app and the in-car infotainment system really feel like they're built by different software engineering organizations, and I wouldn't be surprised if one (or both) is outsourced.

Should I quantify by saying a GOOD software company lol. An honestly I thought Google was supposed to have more input control. Granted Google has not exactly been a shining star with some of its software decisions lately either. We get what we get I guess.

my Android updated to 4.20.0 on 8/22/22.....
no meaningful changes, or fixes of long-standing issues that I can notice.

The only one I really care about is that the battery status is tricky to get to update on screen. Workaround is to lock/unlock doors, and THEN go to vehicle tab and 'pull down' for update.

Since this release seems stable, I think I'll just turn off auto-update and wait for release notes indicating some functional improvement I might care about.

For what it's worth. My PAAK would not work until I stopped my Ad Blocker.

I am in 20 now (Android) and PaaK works just as reliability as before. I usually take my phone out of my pocket and hold it in the hand that presses the door button. Sometimes it takes a few presses. Anyway, 20 didn't do anything for me. No change.

BTW - I only use PaaK and have never been stranded. If I have a "no key detected" after opening the door, usually just turning Bluetooth off and on takes care of it. If that doesn't work, I remote start the car with FP and then it detects the key. All that is relatively quick and a small price to pay so I don't have to carry a FOB.

Mine has also reliably allowed me to enter and start the car and I rarely bring the key fob these days. That is indeed a nice thing. But I expect it to function like the key fob, and it does not. It’s not the end of the world, but I’m reminded of this annoyance each and every time I approach the car which is just frustrating.

So many people blame Ford but a large percentage of PaaK failures are phone caused. Bluetooth isn't the most reliable technology. Other car companies attempting PaaK are experiencing similar issues.

Could be true, I've never had PAAK on another car before so I don't have another personal data point. Like you said, the most important part is that we can access and drive the car without the key fob. If I want to show off the pony puddle lights, I'll just remember to unlock my phone on approach :)

My interpretation of the "release note" is that it only fixed the PAAK setup routine (which perhaps failed for some people) but not PAAK itself. I Hope I'm wrong, because I'm still disappointed that I often have to stand next to the car for several seconds and press the door button multiple times before PAAk is recognized (unless I unlock my phone on approach).
Hell that happens to me with the fob in my pocket and I don't even use PAAK. Took 4 presses on the driver's door button for the car to open yesterday. I don't think that's specifically a PAAK thing.

Getting lots of erroneous SecureAlerts since updating.
I don’t know if it is the app update or the master reset done at the same time, but now I don’t have any button in the app for Securialerts. Is there some toggle switch in the car I am missing?
