Still waiting for my MME and will give it to my wife. Didn't plan on being an all EV household but here we are. Can't pass up good things when they get dropped in your lap.
Good choice; I've recommended the Ionic 5 to my dad who is considering switching to an EV. Seems like Hyundai/Kia have really done a nice job with EV design. The charging speed on the Ionic 5 is absolutely fantastic, and I'm sure it's a great road-tripper.

If I was looking to become a two-EV household, I would seriously consider the Ionic 5 to complement the MME.

It doesn't have one... It uses the aerodynamics of the car to force air down onto the glass to clear any water....

I dunno, sounds like a horrible idea to me, but I'm not a car engineer... /shrug
Based on the reviews I’ve seen, it doesn’t work at all. That’s been the number 1 complaint, which is why they’re adding a digital rear view camera for 2023. Of course, that camera will get dirty too. Seems like it would be easier to just add a wiper.

I argue the opposite. The efficiency at high speeds of this car is terrible - especially over 75mph. Folks reporting 2.7-3.0 mi/kWh. You will have to charge more frequently which defeats the purpose of fast charging IMO.

The efficiency at low speeds is incredible. See EPA estimate (132 MPGe) and I've seen people report 4.1-4.5 mi/kWh with city driving.

I think this is a city commuter or a great Uber/DoorDash car.

Thanks for posting. How would you rate the back seat space? I have a Kona EV which is basically a 2-seater and need a car suitable for carrying 2 couples, one of the reasons I ordered a MME almost a year ago (about to give up on that). I'm seriously considering the I5 but haven't been able to test drive yet.
Back seat space is great. Same as my rx350

You'd have to dry fast at highway speed to use air to clean the rear glass I think. I can see how a wiper wouldnt look great on it. they need to put in a good camera and project it on the rear view mirror. I was thinking of installing a front and rear dash cam and project the rear cam on the rear view mirror.

2.7-3.0 mi/kWh is about what I get with my Mach E at highway speeds; I don't think the Ionic 5 is significantly worse than the Mach E when it comes to efficiency (the MME is a bit of an electron hog too). Although it is true the Ionic 5 has slightly less range than the MME, the faster charging speeds helps to make up for that.

You are in Michigan. That number is for two Floridians who own Ioniq 5s and one actually owns a Mach-E also. In Florida, 3.3 mi/kWh at highway speeds is closer to normal with speeds between 70-75mph. Above that speed it drops to 3.0-3.2. Inside EV should perform their Ioniq 5 70mph test in warm weather to normalize results because their one was performed in colder temps and it’s hard to compare.

Mach-E’s range is helped by the larger battery for sure. The Ioniq 5 does have vastly faster charging and no harsh throttling over 80% SoC.

THANK YOU @Socalsp3!!! I'm not really interested in the ICONIQ 5, but I'm in the market for a Santa Fe PHEV for my spouse. I've called around to all of my close by dealerships and none of them are offering me anywhere near MSRP (even on a Pre Order). I'm about an hour away from Tustin, but thats well worth the drive. Thank you so much for the tip. This is amazing.

Would be easier, but a rear view camera can be very nice. I loved the one on the Bolt. Never got dirty, but sometimes a little blurry during rain.

Cyber gray is common on dealer lots. Limiteds are hard to find. There's either 1 or zero Limiteds. Maybe it's a chip shortage issue with that trim.
Cyber grey is common amongst the SE/SEL's...but when I check the incoming LImited's, I was only able to find 1 cyber grey Limited within a 500 mile radius of LA. There are 27 Limited's in transit to the SoCal area. 15 of those 27 are shooting star matte. The second highest is Digital Teal with 6 of 27.

I'm just saying its odd that they seem to really be pushing the Shooting Star as it's made up a good 70% of the LImited's that have shipped so far.

Not sure where the camera was on the Bolt, but my wife’s RAV4 Prime has the camera on the inside of the rear windshield so that it doesn’t get dirty, and the rear wiper can clear its view. Of course, that wouldn’t help in the Ioniq 5 since there’s no rear wiper.

It was external on the Bolt, somewhat protected by the hatch overhang, but it did sometimes get wet in the rain. It had a spray washer, which worked pretty well. Living in Southern California worked even better...

The wide-angle rear view was very nice, even though visibility from inside the Bolt was already good. I would love a nice rear camera in the Mustang - one of my few dislikes is the limited visibility for drivers.

While waiting for MME for the past 4 mos without any uodate i decided to check out Ioniq 5. Really like the good reviews and the cool design. Called around and every dealer had a markup 3 to 10k. I stumbled on Tustin hd who apparently prides itself on no ADM. I couldn't believe it. i figured they may put in some aftermarket fee. Nope.

The internet salesperson was a pleasure to deal with. He sold it to me while it was in transit. It came a week early and i was able to pick up today. The deal took less than an hour. Definitely the best car buying experience ever.

She's a beaut. Rides like a 528i i used to have. And not as bouncy as my rx350. Only gripe is power lift gate was not standard. Thats only in higher trims. I got the base SE AWD but it hauls. Pretty good efficiency too i was getting 4.1 mi/kwh on mixed city highway driving. Already had 2 people come up to me to ask about it.

Still waiting for my MME and will give it to my wife. Didn't plan on being an all EV household but here we are. Can't pass up good things when they get dropped in your lap.

Exact same thing here last month. We were looking at 2 Mach E Premiums. Test drove the Ioniq 5 SEL and fell in love with it. Definitely feels more spacious than the Mach E ,smoother ride (BMWish), and the super fast charging is an added bonus. I think the mach E premium has a few more bells and whistles - but the Ioniq 5 but nothing I really want/need. Get about 4.6 m/kw just driving the side streets, 4.0 m/Kw with a 50% mix. On a flat freeway I got 3 m/kw probably averaging about 75mph. Unfortunately I did pay an ADM.
