Things customers are hearing from dealers so far today:

"There isn't a fix yet, it won't be available until September" - Tell them to check again, the updates are available NOW (as of this afternoon).

"We don't have parts for it" - It's a software update, no parts are required.

"It's an OTA update, we don't do them" - It will be an OTA update later, but your dealer can update the software anytime.

And my favorite: "We don't have a welding department" - Tell them to actually read the bulletin.

?‍♂ This is why we like to post the info for the literate folks...

Does anyone know if this is not going to neuter your car's performance for "safety reasons"?
No but we are all dying to install it ;). The way OTA happens in this area we are most likely looking at early next year. I should have an answer to your question by then.

A lot of back patting going on right now so maybe we should sit back and enjoy it. Glad to hear the held cars are getting released welcome to the club guys/gals. We are expecting DCFC and multiple full throttle events from you as initial testing. Drive them hard enjoy and let us know.

They have to figure something out with this one, since they're specifically stating you can get it OTA. It might clear after it attempts the OTA and verifies that the modules are updated to the correct software.
In Europe in 2021 we had a stop sell order and recall for our Mach-E Emergency SOS function (eCall) that was giving out incorrect locations. With that fix there was also the choice of dealer update or OTA, but back then there was only a couple of forum members with cars. The other guy opted for the dealer update, and I opted for the OTA.

If I remember correctly my OTA delivery of the fix and subsequent clear down from OASIS happened just as quick as his FDRS one - so there is historical proof that it can be done :)

To be fair, we're hearing many of those same things from people on here. There are probably still some posters here who are adamant that there won't be a fix until September.

I think I just figured out your Reddit username, that is unless someone over there is calling the same dealers you are ;)

They’re being paid for 0.6 hours. It took me about 30 minutes.
Just curious, but I presume that a private party doing the updates via FDRS doesn't make a bit of a difference in recording the recall as done (presuming everything updates as it should). Idle curiosity is all.
Wait a minute, I was assured by people on here that there was no possible way it could be any earlier than the very last day of Q3? Or not at all in Q3?
Inflation. Quarters don't last as long as they used to you know.
People were wrong… on the internet?

Maybe, just maybe, some folks at Ford are able to actually do their jobs, despite what some on this site think. But that's just crazy talk.
Well yeah, consider the source (pot, meet kettle).

Do software installs go more smoothly if done by the dealer (assuming they follow the instructions) vs by OTA? A few weeks back I got caught in this mess of purchasing Sat June 11 and my dealer calling me a few days later thinking I would need to bring it back because of the recall, only to reverse himself after getting his Ford rep to process the sale. He graciously offered to get me in and out quickly once they had the necessary info for recall. Other than possibly getting it done sooner, is there a benefit to that approach?

How does the OTA work? I am one those who can’t connect my MME to my home’s Verizon FIOS WiFi network. Would that have an impact on the OTA or does it only come via a cellular network?

All of my OTA’s have come over cellular net.

Is anyone concerned about being the first one to have the update done?

want to make sure no problems occur. Not trying to be pessimistic but it is software and you never know.

Why would anyone be concerned about being the first when a lot of us have already done it?
