I hate adapters and if Ford is going all in on NACS, then I'd rather be on the newer standard that's supported moving forward. I was hoping to keep this car more than 3 years so I'm willing to eat that retrofit cost to keep it longer.
Why would you need to swap? Unless everyone else jumps in and uses it or plans get reworded as currently to get any of the government funds being thrown around like confetti towards ev infrastructure chargers will need to support CCS so to get maximum coverage you will still need to have adapter in the trunk just from NCAS to CCS.

Unless every other manufacture announces a move to NACS over the coming months this just comes across as Ford trying to stay relevant IMO, Farley has already being banging on about not being on board with larger batteries and how the 2 row BEV space is crowed. Seems the current Ford plan going forward is to just focus on larger 3 rows, with bugger all range and slap a Tesla charge port on it as a way to try and temp people to purchase them.

For me it is simple. I only charge at home. There are no Tesla Chargers nearby even if I wanted to use one (at the moment only two 50kW DCFC within 100 miles.)

It's not technically possible to retrofit NACS due to shared pins. We'll have to buy the Supercharger adapter next year.

No. But as much as I hate how multiple standards muddy the water I hope the nacs standard ends up winning.

It could make the resale value of ccs cars less than the same car but with the old standard. Interesting times. Is Ford also going to purchase Tesla software with the new standard?

And the converse is true as well. Ford/Tesla has not said they will provide the adaptor for free either.

What is more likely to happen I wonder?

1. Tesla deploys MagicDock to all of their V3 stations. Which opens up to all CCS drivers not just Fords.

2. Tesla/Ford provide hundreds of thousands of free adaptors to Ford customers.

3. A Tesla to CCS adaptor is made available for sale that gives Ford CCS drivers the option to use Superchargers.

4. Some combination of 1 and 3.

Edit. Sounds like Ford is going to provide the adapter.

Don't forget the possibility that Ford charges a subscription service for Tesla charging......

I understand and support the sentiment, but I personally wouldn’t say no to having access to banks of superchargers as an option, even though I’d need to drink Pepto Bilmol while using any of them… ?
My first thought was I get to charge at Buc-Ee’s now and for that I can grin and bear it

Charging just to access chargers will drag ev adoption backwards. I'm not saying they won't do it but I'll go back to gasoline if I have to pay for access to chargers I again have to pay to use.

I was elated when I heard the news of the partnership. EA is going steadily downhill.
Memorial weekend and their HyperFast chargers put out 50KW. What a letdown. What a farce. What a great disappointment, again.
I guess Ford saw what its customers(Ford) have to endure while traveling using EA.
Tesla is the better choice. I will get the adaptor in a heartbeat. You will also if you want to wait for 2 hours to charge your Lightning. An hour for the Mach E. This was not what EA promised to their customers. What are they thinking.
Tesla is the better choice. Tesla is the way to go for me. I am glad Elon and Jim made this partnership. It is best for both companies.
The adaptor can't come fast enough.

I expect to pick one up when its available. More charge options will make road tripping less stressful.
