BlueCruise- what do you do while it's on?

With the latest BlueCruise update, the "BlueCruise is available" toast has popped up a lot. I don't use BC very often, but wanted to see how it behaved with the enhancements. It's better, moves a little to give semis some room, seems a little smoother on speed changes, that sort of thing.

While letting it run for a few miles, two thoughts occurred to me- 1) It's more stressful to watch what it's doing than it is to do it myself; b) I don't have much of anything to do if I'm not driving.

B) led me to a question for the heavy BC-use crowd: What do you do while BlueCruise is on?

I use it for my relatively short commute (about 8 miles of highway) as an always-alert backup in case someone does something stupid in a moment where I might have looked in my mirrors or to either side of me. I'm still driving, but its nice having the backup. On road-trips, I find it far less stressful to "drive" with BC engaged. I watch the road, can take more note of the terrain I'm driving through and have a more enjoyable trip. That being said, most of my roadtripping is done on western highways that have relatively low traffic outside of Denver, SLC, Santa Fe or Vegas. In traffic, BC is of marginal use (to me at least).

Watch the road, like you do. I still monitor, it’s just that I don’t have to physically be in charge of the lane-keeping. My hands move from off the wheel to on the wheel, top, bottom and sometimes I just snack or eat my lunch with two hands

Bluecruise has allowed me to take long-distance road trips without the anxiety I used to have. I'm still paying attention if something happens, but by eliminating the monotony I'm less worried I'll burn out or fall asleep.

The bigger feature I use a lot is the hands-on lane keeping feature in under 10mph stop-and-go traffic. I discovered it does NOT yell at you to keep your hands on the wheel if you stay under 10-15mph. In really creeping traffic I can be hands free even without bluecruise available.

Lately my 1.2 HF has taken a walk about 1/3rd through my 12 mile freeway drive and won't kick back to HF until about 2 miles from my exit. I almost think it's just toying with me.

I've used 1.2 for thousands of miles and eventually you get used to it. It becomes less stressful the more you use it and become more familiar with it and how it works.

IMO it's one of the best features of the car.

To answer your question. I don't do anything while it's on besides watch the road and be a little bit more interactive with my passenger. AKA my wife.

Funny - same thing. Every time I take a drink out of my coffee, I get the "Look At The Road" look

I rest my hands in my lap. Which is much more comfortable than gripping the wheel on long drives. It just ain’t $800 a year more comfortable, especially when a $10 ankle weight will serve just as well.

Do you mean, like, how it’s done? Or the fact that there is no meaningful safety difference because the eye nanny remains active and you have to keep your eyes on the road under any circumstance?
