I wouldn’t be surprised if this problem goes away with a firmware update of some kind. My wife has a new Renault Zoe and in certain situations it would refuse to take a charge and it looked like 12v battery problems. Of course it would always happen when the traction battery was low. It seemed to happen when traction battery was less than 40% and in chilly weather. Zoe’s have been around forever so I really didn’t expect this to be resolved by a short dealer trip and a quick firmware update, but it was. Google was little help even though the Zoe had been around for a while!

I guess what I’m saying is there is a LOT of software in a modern car and especially an EV and it will have bugs no matter how well it is factory tested. They are usually quick fixes and the mustang has OTA updates, unlike the Zoe, so it will hopefully be fixed without too much drama. It’s hard not to get wound up when this sort of thing happens though.

Agree with you that those statements are not reflective of real world experiences past few weeks. Those are words of over optimistic company employee but I would have asked how much testing went into being that confident. Most people on this forum have had issues with their cars ... and if big issues with cars then issues with connectivity ...

I also wonder how come none of the tens of reviews we have seen or read experienced these ... were they given scrubbed cars? Sure then the reviews and kudos are reflective only of the driving dynamics. Not anything else. And why? Is it because Ford thought these issues would be fixed by production vehicles?
I don't know if they were "scrubbed", per say.... but maybe they were? I mean, a lot of the reviewers were using the same limited subset of vehicles, so maybe those specific ones were in tip top shape. Who's to say?

Either that, or maybe reviewers experienced these problems, but were not allowed to comment on "bugs" with the systems and/or were not entirely unbiased (ie. received compensation from Ford).

Either way, if members on this forum are having considerable issues, then think about those people who are not members here and how many are having problems we don't know about....

I just had my Mach E battery go dead yesterday at only 27°F. I trickle charged it back to life (disconnected the negative cable and attached trickle charger from positive jump port to negative terminal on the battery. After reconnecting the negative lead it started back up.

It's now at the dealer to have diagnostics run on it.
Interesting but sad, as I would not like to find this issue while out and about. I assume your doors were not locked and you didn't have to open the charge port?

I am convinced that the powertrain message is generic and used for many issues as it's only customer facing. The dealer when scanning the car and the realtime data sent info to Ford has all the real info. I think Ford didn't put much time into a database of customer facing messages, we are not getting a real diagnoses of the issue. We are just being notified something from a wide range of issues is present. I would like more detail but even with that detail I am still having to rely on the dealer or Ford.

I haven't driven my Mach-E in a week. She's been tucked away in the garage. I do go down and start her up every now and again, mostly just to play with settings and whatnot.

It stays plugged in, and I know now, thanks to my Wallbox smarts, that it does request power every now and again, even though it's "fully charged". I'm hoping it's doing this in order to keep that 12V juiced up, but not really sure. It only logs around 0.1kW of power delivered each time it happens.

Mine has been parking since Friday but in my garage, about to leave soon for the dealer. Weather here in NJ has been iffy and lots of salt was put down recently so I didn't want to get it all gritty. OCD I know, its a car, what can I say, waiting for PPF next week, then I will relax a bit.

Oh yea - same. I'm paranoid of dings/scratches before I can get PPF applied, so she's staying garaged for now.

We are alike and the clear coat can scratch easily, hard to see but I can see it. OCD again. White is best for seeing very little but also really boring for me. My leaf is white, looks like new but doesn't scream excitement.

Again, you are making a giant assumption. Perhaps one of the insiders can give more details but in fact we have been told there is a great deal of tracking and information available behind the scenes. The fact that you have not been told everything doesn't mean that information isn't available somewhere inside FoMoCo.

This is probably 100% true and I bet dealers dont even have access to the information yet since they have never touched this car. This will be a big learning experience for Ford all together and even repair logistics will have to be figured out as they go along until dealers and ford feel comfortable touching these cars.

Keep in mind this isn't Ford's first rodeo with an EV.

The Focus Electric had a similar telematics system and would phone home with all kinds of info and, thus, Ford knew a lot about the issues as they happened.

Has the root cause of the 12V drain been determined? I once had a brand new PHEV where I spent quite a bit if time setting up the car and programing the systems to my liking without the car running, and drained the 12volt to zero and had to get it jumped.

Is there a tracker started on the forum yet for those recieved MME and current issues they've ran into? Something that associates build date and common problems together?

Good idea!

I just dropped off at the dealer myself. Service Now message is present with the RED ring on the charge port and the powertrain message in the FordPass app.

You have to start the MME for the display to turn on, I do not think the root cause has been determined just yet. Something is draining it or it's actually defective.
