FYI, I cut the ends off the old cable and that's what's shown in the previous pic, compared to the new cable.
Hard to tell in the picture but the old cable is lumpy/kinked, probably from mishandling by glass techs during windshield changes. The original plastic bits that secured the cable to the camera were also broken - further evidence of mishandling. My windshield has probably been changed 3x so I'm pretty sure the cable was damaged then.

Based on Mach-Lee’s response, the issue reoccurring, and my lack of repair paperwork, I’m fairly certain that the dealership did not replace the cable last October. Now here’s another complication - I do have a rather long crack starting from the passenger side, so I will be having the windshield replaced at some point… thinking a cable replacement at that time would solve my issue. This thread has been invaluable to me, thank you! Any recommendation on windshield replacement?

Probably best to wait until after the windshield replacement to switch out the camera cable.
Hard to go wrong with Ford glass but they might not be the cheapest. Whatever Safelite is using is probably okay as well. And the camera will have to be recalibrated to the new windshield. It might be a good idea to try to have the cable and the windshield changed out at the same time. That way, the recalibration happens with all the new components.

I had a cracked windshield replaced by safelite. Not long after I started getting the intermittent camera, collision, and another warning. Then it would go away. Took it in and the dealer replaced the cable. No problem since. This is t a knock on safelite, they were excellent but not sure if they realize how fragile that cable can be. Check TSB-2155, it’s all about the cable.

Hi, Kudos again to @GT-Papa for the great report!
I got the correct cable and replaced it. Unfortunately I'm still getting the fault messages. I'm wondering if my problem is a software issue. Error messages didn't start until after I received the free trial of Blue Cruise so this could be a factor. I also wonder if I need to get the camera reoriented as I did remove it from its base to check for looseness. I'm going to try using Forscan to help diagnose my further efforts rather than just throw parts at it.
Also, any tricks to getting the A-pillar back in place. I tried getting the bottom lined up to the vent tubing but I cant get it inserted deep enough to progress further. many thx

The trick for reinstalling the A-pillar trim piece is the tethers.
When you take the A-pillar trim piece off to begin with, the tethers stay connected to the A-pillar.
To get the trim piece back on, you first need to remove the tethers from the A-pillar and transfer them to the trim piece before trying to reinstall it.

Okay I'm at 550 miles and 2 weeks since I swapped in that new cable and have had no front camera faults. Feeling like maybe it's really fixed!

I just got my first fault today while wife driving 2021 GT. 47,000 miles. Are these pre collision messages showing up in the Ford pass app? I have an extended warranty so I am not sure whether I should take the time to go with doing all this myself.

Yes, the faults show up in the Ford pass app in "messages". Follow the red dot.
Question: Have you ever had your windshield replaced?

For me, the fault message appears pretty much right away in Ford Pass.

Thanks Tim. So far it hasn’t done it again and no messages have shown up in the app. Very bizarre. Duke

I have been getting front camera fault messages on my 2021 since having my glass replaced as part of recall. I took it in to the dealer while under warranty and noticed a decreased frequency of alerts for a week or two. Thanks to this thread, I popped cover off mirror and re-routed cable from starboard where it was making a sharp 90 degree angle, to port, where it could swoop a little better. Hallejula this seems to have resolved the situation. Thank you!

But seriously, how is this not a class action lawsuit? How is it my (our) responsibility to fix this? This alert essentially tanks the re-sale value of these vehicles.

This is going to sound crazy but ever since i pulled the panel cover off and have kept it off from where the camera is at , the camera errors have completely gone away.
